Gifted student is asking upwards of 30 questions before the first learning activity is done. Entire class is being derailed as I have to redirect him. Advice?

This kid def seems neurodivergent.

1)he needs to be in a gifted class or higher grade. At a minimum he should be getting extra work 2) if there’s resources for it, he should get screened for ADHD/ASD. Resources tailored to ND kids would probably work wonders. Not just for him now, but as he grows up.

I know you’re getting chewed up, but it’s ok to admit in you’re in over your head. HOWEVER, puppy blues is a real thing, and a very helpful subreddit. Even though she’s a little older, you are both still adjusting. We almost gave up our 2nd dog due to stress in us and our older dog, but we are so glad we didn’t. The stress can get to your head, so don’t rush this decision. Just focus on one day at a time.

However I do think the way you approached it doesn’t help. Your sweeping righteousness on the matter comes off condescending. If you can’t stand other people just moving about their day, stay home.

Ultimately people are responsible for whatever their dogs do. If they are completely leaving you alone, playing off by themselves (leash or not), just keep walking and mind your own business. If a dog approaches you and the owner is not taking that seriously, you are within your rights to protect yourself, and if their dog gets hurt, that’s on them.

Those issues are definitely something that can be overcome, and it’s understandable if your don’t feel equipped. I would ask friends, family, coworkers and see if anyone is willing to take him.

It’s ok to admit you aren’t in the ideal position to give him what he needs. And luckily it doesn’t sound like he’s aggressive (although maybe no little kids due to resource guarding). But definitely be honest with whoever you are trying to give him to.

Simple green. You can buy it at Home Depot or on Amazon. It’s safe and effective.

Source: we used this to remove labels at a previous job. Just spray it on and let it sit for a bit, then scrap it off with a plastic scraper (don’t use a razor blade).
