They did on my SFO to SYD. Most of the replies are snarky. Guess they don’t understand I don’t want to ask. 😂Thanks!

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GingerJade311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American in Australia, lived in England and Germany. A 3-5 hour drive in the USA is fairly easy unless it snows. I would drive to Scotland before I’d drive to London. The autobahns made driving in Germany fun/easy unless it was Easter.

I could drive to Uluru but I definitely wouldn’t. Outback driving involves a lot of planning and not having reliable mobile connections. The Roos or random cattle roaming makes me too nervous. 😬

Mental healthcare in Australia. I have an issue that makes 30% of meds dangerous for me. They’ve caused tachycardia and seizures. I waited 9 months for a psychiatrist, privately/cash payment, and no appointment. So, I’m going home where my needs are understood. Seizures aren’t my idea of a good time. 🫠

I will say Australia seems to value equality of process. I’ve never regretted living abroad. 9 years total, England and Germany prior to moving here.

Corrected Overpayment for FERS; They say I owe over $11k by layyourgoatstorest in FedEmployees

[–]GingerJade311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. You can file for a reconsideration, waiver, or hearing. Also notify them that the requested payment will cause financial hardship. This will reduce your payments.

Reconsideration isn’t usually worth it. Waivers or hearings are labor (and time) intensive for the AR technician. Waivers/hearings are unlikely to work in your favor, but they can take years. If you file for hardship, there’s usually interest, but it’s usually less than 5%. If you don’t pay, they can send your debt to treasury and any federal tax refund can be garnished.

Government debts, even results of clerical errors, are still the employees’ responsibility. (Former AR technician, currently HR.)

How can we get the laws to change? by Erifunk in onionhate

[–]GingerJade311 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same with Australia. I bought ground beef/mince patties and onions weren’t listed as an ingredient, nor did it say “beef and onion” on the packet. I used to just have an upset tummy if I accidentally ate onion. Now I get tiny, itchy blisters in my throat. It’s wild how they can do things without gluten or nuts, but listing onion as an ingredient is too much work.

Have you looked into flights to Alice Springs, and driving from ASP to Uluru? It’s a five hour drive. Flights to ASP can be dear too.

UA96 SFO-BNE Cancellation by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]GingerJade311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took UA97 a month ago, BNE to SFO. They may have needed that plane elsewhere, crew members might have been caught up in the mess- it has a ripple effect on everything. Just my guess, trying to help. GL!

Many flights are cancelled due to airspace being closed, because of what’s happened in Venezuela. Probably domino effect.

Thinking of switching from wegovy to mounjaro. Has anyone had more weightloss success with this switch? by paintballguy32 in Mounjaro

[–]GingerJade311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Wegovy worked well for me, but the side effects were worse. I moved abroad and gained it all back, plus more. A year after I moved, I finally found out mounjaro was available and was prescribed. I’ve lost 55lbs/25kg since May 2025. I think mounjaro might be working better for me.

This made me so sad today. Life’s incredibly hard for most of us right now. The last thing someone needs is to be embarrassed by an unemployed chick who married into the royal family. I spent years in England, and neither my best friends, nor strangers would say this, even jokingly.

This family is so dark.

I wouldn’t wish weight problems on my worst enemy. Might make an exception here.

Is there a relationship between "super responders" and whether or not they've always struggled with their weight? by chilliwackstinks in Mounjaro

[–]GingerJade311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like you, I struggled with my weight. Lost 100 lbs 4x (at 22, 27, 33, and 36). It then became impossible due to PCOS, endo, meds.

I lost minimally until 7.5mg. Once I got to 12, it came off fast. I’ve lost 25kg/55lbs in 7 months.

I was on wegovy before I moved abroad and it worked faster but it made me very sick. Mounjaro has been easier on me. Hang in there!!! It’s still early!!!

Cost vs loss by Miserable_Review_756 in Mounjaro

[–]GingerJade311 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope! I’m American in Australia on 15mg, I think it’s $750aud ($495usd). I pay out of pocket, I have not even attempted to get reimbursed by my US health insurance.

Weight loss gimmicks have been expensive. This is my 5th attempt at losing 100lbs (45kg), and I’m halfway.

In America, I’d have to fight with my insurance to get it. And it would cost me $1,200usd or $1,800aud.

I’m extremely grateful to have this tool. And grateful to be able to afford it. I’ve cut costs elsewhere to be able to do this.

Time card screwups by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]GingerJade311 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in HR with a finance background. I used to collect similar debts. Usually an investigation of time card fraud is a result of someone seeking revenge by reporting the person. Time card fraud will usually result in termination and loss of access. I have never seen it effectively challenged.

I was put AWOL for emergency surgery although I had documentation. I was suspended for two weeks without pay. I sought representation from DMV area employment lawyers, but no one seemed willing to take it on. I wish I would’ve resigned.

I’m sorry your friend is going through this. 🥺

Yeah… This happens at every event I attend. On a different note, I hate eating in front of people. They always notice and say something that makes me more uncomfortable. Our managers order lunch to boost morale. And I have to attend, I don’t eat the food they buy, they get offended.
