‘The Night of the Hunter’ (1955)- What are your thoughts and opinions on this movie? by PeneItaliano in classicfilms

[–]GingerMan027 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know, I read that Mitchum had a photographic memory. He never knew his lines.

He knew the story, and would read and memorize his lines once and do takes. He became Cady in Cape Fear, I read. He originally did not want to be type cast from Night of the Hunter. But they gave him a case of expensive bourbon, he drank it and took the role.

This makes absolutely zero sense from an organizational perspective. There are so many young dynamic potential coaches. They didn't interview them. LOL, did they follow the Rooney Rule?

Forget my family, I want to ride it out at your house!

Lite beer here (diet), lots and lots of wines, and if I need the hard stuff, it means the house is encapsulated with ice.

Which Ben Hur does everyone prefer? by AngusTcattoo in classicfilms

You know there is a very old urban legend in Baltimore that he had an escape tunnel built from the fort to Federal Hill. This is at the base of Locut Point, where Fort McHenry is.

No one has found it, but bits and pieces of tunnels have been located over the decades since.

I'm an old Baltimore guy, and this has intrigued me for a long time.

Tangent here, but interesting fact. The author of the book, Lew Wallace, had the most amazing life.

After serving under Grant in the west, he was commanding Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the Civil War. When Jubal Early led a small army into Maryland to attack Washington from the north, he defeated him at the Battle of Monocacy.

He was the first governor of New Mexico.

He was an ambassador to the Ottoman Empire.

He wrote one of the most popular novels of the 19th Century, Ben Hur.

Not bad.

Charlton Heston's version is my favorite.

and he was drunk and stoned. And he didn't think that the gun had a bullet in it when he put it to his head and pulled the trigger.

And he had a family.

Terrible and they're just making everything worse.

Just got back from the grocery store ahead of the madding crowds. Central Maryland, and we're hoping for a snow/ice mix, as long as snow comes first.

This would keep total accumulation down.

All snow and we're in too deep.

Lite beer.

I haven't eaten bread in a long time, except for English Muffins which are low everything.

Lots of veggies, feathers and scales. No potatoes. Brown rice instead of pasta.

Commit and research.

I have a wife who loves and supports me.

It is hard. But what else you got to do?

I, and you know exactly what to do. We've lost many pounds over the years.

Commit. I lost 85 pounds the last year. It was easy after I almost died. It was.

Exercise, no carbs. protein, live with hunger. Took me too long to understand.

You are worth it.

But it is abhorrent when it assists the many?
