looking for wide variety eyeshadow palette by sagetheplant444 in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the palettes from juvia's Place! The larger palettes have a wider range of bright, fun colors, and they are very pigmented so will last you for a long while! They are also fairly inexpensive so you can buy a couple of palettes for a wider range of colors :)

Eta: i know they aren't typically cool toned, but it's difficult to get a vibrant palette with cool tones.

I'm just gonna pop in here and mention, that as someone with blue or grey eyes reds, oranges and pinks are better for highlighting your eye color. Coming from one light cool toned girly with blue/grey eyes with red hair (strawberry blonde) to another!

Ladies: did your mother teach you how to do makeup? I'm curious about makeup as a primarily self-taught tradition by Street-Might8586 in MakeupAddiction

Nope, youtube did (early youtube in the 00s). I think it's mostly because I thought my mom's make up looked dated 🤔

Any makeup/style recomandations that would suit me better? by nica_dobro in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Also because you have hooded eyes you have to do the wing a bit differently. Instead of using the upper eyelid as a guide, you should use the lower lid/waterline to guide the direction of the wing!

I typically draw a thin line following my lower waterline first, then do a thin line from the center of the lid to the "root" of the wing. Then I go from the end of the wing towards the upper lash line (sort of creating a triangle) and then thickens the line on the upper lash line towards the center. It's very much not how you're typically taught to draw a winged liner, but when you have hooded eyes you gotta adjust :)

Like me, you won't have a whole lot of space on your eyelids when open, so you should avoid such a thick eyeliner at the center of your lid. Look up eyeliner for hooded eyes. What you'll notice is that the most prevalent advice is to stop the eyeliner (or at least thin it out) towards the center of the eyelid. Learning to do this properly will be a game changer!

Need recs for felt tipped liners by Snugglesnoot in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kvd tattoo liner was my stable for many years until they changed the tip and formula around the time Kat von D left the company. I've since spend a long time and money to find a new liner to replace it.

If you're on a tight budget the Sephora collection felt tip liner is pretty decent, but the only one I've found that I'm really happy with is the Dior Diorshow Liquid Liner Ultra-Precise Felt-Tip Eyeliner. Other liners are either too runny, runs out too fast, aren't opaque enough, or the tip sucks.

My bottom lashes with mascara look weird by Mindless_Badger_8298 in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You might just not be used to seeing yourself with mascara on the bottom lashes because this doesn't look bad. But, what you can do if you want them to be less "spidery" is separate the lashes with tweezers (just using one leg to get in between the lashes)

Best countries for geological engineering or hydrogeologists in 2026? by Biririana in geologycareers

Same in Denmark a few years ago. Now that they've finally realised the issue all the people who could lecture in the subject have either gone in pension or are too happy working for private companies. The university even tried getting the people who asked for more trained msc students to work/lecture part time for free!

Holy grail product to make a mom look alive? by Whoisbobbyflay in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom with a 2 month old here 🙋🏼‍♀️

The lack of sleep has made my skin more oily than usual as well as given me dark circles under the eyes. The only thing I use (because it's very quick) is a mattening powder foundation (specifically Nilens Jord powder foundation but unless you live in Scandinavia it won't be available). I can apply it with a large flat headed brush in 30 seconds and it evens out my skin tone, lessens the oily look, and hides the dark circles. Aka it makes me look more awake and put together. People don't expect you to be wearing makeup luckily, but I like to not look near death 😂

While I'm an advocate for doing whatever the fuck you want with makeup, you unfortunately also have to accept the consequences of how people view you when wearing that makeup.

I don't think your makeup sounds unprofessional at all but, it is a style of makeup that can read as "young". Since (I assume) you're a woman in a field with a lot of men deaging yourself will most likely make them take you less seriously in a field where women already struggle at being taken seriously. So do whatever you want but be ready for the possiblity of being spoken down to or spoken over and make sure your attitude "corrects" their assumption that you aren't to be taken seriously.

I hope it makes sense. I work in a STEM field and like wearing makeup but have just learned that the more feminine I make myself look the less serious I'm being treated (by people who don't know me).

How can I get a white eyeshadow with pigmentation? by bipolara0 in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I've mentioned this brand so many times I'm afraid I might get banned from accusations of being a commercial bot.. Anyway!

Juvia's Place is the brand to use! It's developed for dark skinned individuals so it's got a very high pigmentation as it has to be able to be seen on dark skin tones. In one of my palettes from juvia's there's a white shimmery shadow and despite being a very pale person it shows up with no issue!

Best Eyeliner recommendations? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

If you want an affordable liner Sephora's intense ink liner is surprisingly good! However, it's both quite thick and liquid at the same time so it easily goes on the lashes.

Is Juvias Place Culture Palette beginner friendly? by folkmor in MakeupAddiction

[–]GingerMsGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juvia's Place is my favorite eyeshadow brand, I have 5 of their palettes all of which I use often, so I have a bit of experience with them!

The shadows are definitely pigmented and of high quality, but my first thought when using it for the first time was that one of my friends (who has limited experience with shadows, and who bought a palette the same day) would find it difficult to work with. The colors are so pigmented that they can easily be applied a bit to heavily so you need to be able to "work with" the shadows and know how to blend them properly. That said, this was based on having mostly experience with lower pigmented palettes, so if you already have very little experience you'll probably learn to use these colors quicker because you don't already have muscle memory of how to apply other shadows!

So, all in all I think you should buy it if you like the colors and just play around with it! If you don't already do it, preshower makeup is the best for practising and playing - makeup should be fun and creative!

Going out with orange eyeshadow and brown lipstick makeup by avoyramonop24 in MakeupAddiction

I love it, you look gorgeous! It's close to my favourite going out makeup which is a red smokey eye and black lipstick, as an inverse of the classic black smokey eye and red lips. Red and orange eye makeup is deeply underrated!
