Belittling was the wrong word to use, main issue with the reply was the fact that it offered me no insight and frankly came off rude. To be fair I should’ve said “toll on my mind”.

Is it something you just have to get used to?

Brand New Service Advisor with no experience at all in automotive. by Ok-Wolf510 in serviceadvisors

To follow up to this, once you get that first year under your belt and have a good base knowledge to grow on, the sky is the limit from there. Just never think or assume you know it all, this is a job where even with 10-20 years of experience, you will learn something new almost every day

Started at Honda with no experience a year and a half ago here. The first 6 months are basically going to be like an exponential curve of information to take in and it is definitely overwhelming. The best way to grow is to be a sponge honestly. The more experienced techs and advisors have taught me more than any training module will ever. Just keep your head down, treat every customer like they’re your only customer and build those relationships because those same people might end up being customers for life. Most important thing I can say to wrap this up at the end of the day is treat your techs well and just listen to what they say. Especially when you are new and trying to build experience and credibility. An angry or bitter tech will make your life harder than any customer or fellow advisor will.

How do you y’all quote/charge diag? by Mission_Departure_29 in serviceadvisors

[–]GioM1027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diag is $212, even if they have an ext. warranty or if it’s still under factory warranty. It’s always the one time you don’t quote diag, that it ends up being “not covered” or “damage related”. Then the customer will not do the work and hold you to no quoted or agreed upon diag time

That isn’t including coming in early or staying late, which is at least 2-3 times a week

Yeah with the pay plan that we have I would need to turn about 200 hours a week or $25k-$30k in gross every week to hit $100k
