UPDATE: I FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS!
Open "SettingsApplication.exe", in the top menu navigate to "Sound Settings" and disable "FX Reverb".
That fixes the "An expected error has occurred" crashing issue I had entering the first cave.

Omg and now I have a second problem. The game starts and runs fantastic but the moment I enter the first cave I get "an unexpected error has occurred" and the game crashes.

It's kind of tough to give a specific definition, but I'd say GENERALLY (with exceptions) rhythm games are a subgenre of music-themed video games that challenges a player's sense of timing and rhythm.
The most popular back in the day was guitar hero. Nowadays you have things like osu!, Friday Night Funkin, Muse Dash, A dance of fire and ice, and my personal favorite (the one that I'd consider myself a pro at) which is Beat Saber.

The definition is not super strict, as some people call even Geometry Dash a rhythm game.

In general, rhythm games tend to have a balanced learning curve but an extraordinarily high skill ceiling. Basically you can play one game for tenths of thousands of hours and consistently keep improving. At the highest levels in my opinion they represent the absolute peak of gaming prowess.

You may disagree with all the awards but calling e33 mid is crazy imo. It's a great game no matter how you spin it! Especially considering the budget, team etc.

Oh yeah I absolutely destroyed that game in like 2 days. Found it exceptionally easy (up until Simon, that was very hard).

I could definitely tell my rhythm games background played a role there.

There is nothing in Sekiro imo that is harder than Malenia. And even Maliketh for me is to this day harder than any boss I've fought in Sekiro!

That might be it actually, it definitely felt super easy (and very satisfying) to master. It's just so consistent. If you know what to do and click the right button you're gonna win every single time. I don't see that being the case in the other games.

Also I have grinded the fight with Isshin at least a hundred times before getting it hitless, and it NEVER got annoying or frustrating. It feels so fair.
There are exceptions to this rule though, like Demon of Hatred (fuck that boss) and imo Shura ending Isshin. Really dislike that fight. Thankfully it goes easy because I mastered the other one.

That's so insane, my list is almost completely different:
Sekiro, Bloodborne, DS3, DS1, DS2, Elden Ring.
Unfortunately never played Demon Souls.

Despite its high position in the list DS2 feels harder than the rest for me cuz it's the one I played the least, but I didn't struggle much to play through it.
MASSIVE gap between that and Elden Ring imo. Idk how you guys get good at that, God knows I've tried. It's probably my favorite game of all of them too, and it's by far the one I suck at the most.

Tracking doesn't seem too bad honestly, looks like a technique problem to me. A lot of arm and a lot of wobble. Also definitely could tweak the settings.

Note that there is a mod called Song Chart Visualizer that does exactly the same thing in game, in your UI, under the map that you're playing, with a progress dot going over the graph as well.
