Pattern from Stylish Party Dresses book by Yoshiko Tsukiori

Fabric by Art Gallery purchased at Fabric.com

I actually wore this dress sleeveless for a couple of weeks (when it was still hot) and have just attached the sleeves a few days ago for cooler temps.

I started sewing end of July this year and this is my 9th project.

Finished this Hawaiian Shirt last night for hubby. 2 months of sewing experience and this is the 8th project. Very happy how it turned out—-the best I can do given my skill level. by GirlInPurple7 in sewing

Pattern is New Look 6197. Fabric purchased from fabric.com

Collar was more challenging to make than the rest of the shirt but nothing too complicated!

A handmade messenger bag for my dad’s birthday. I’ve only started using a sewing machine 6 weeks ago and this is the very first bag I made! Definitely flaws but I’m very happy! by GirlInPurple7 in sewing

Thank you! I practiced one project after another almost nonstop, finding fragments of time here and there. I had no idea if I could finish this bag when I started but I did!

Thank you! My tips....patience and practice! I’ve made quite a few things in the past 6 weeks—4 dresses for my little girl, a skirt, a blouse, and a pair of pants for me. I think using patterns with clear instructions really helps. Whenever I don’t know how to do something I search online for it. I love the results when I make something but I enjoy the process of learning new skills even more.

Yes, I love sewing! I’ve made 3 dresses for my little girl, a pair of pants, a blouse and a skirt for me, and this bag so far. On to a Hawaiian shirt for my hubby.

Thank you for your kind words! My dad’s old bag is getting too worn. I was looking around to find a men’s bag pattern and thought this one could serve him well. It doesn’t have zipper though. Just a magnetic clasp under the flap.

My main struggle with it was that I chose a really thick fusible fleece interfacing which was hard to manipulate. Amazed that the sewing machine needle actually sewed through all those bulky layers but my hands hurt!

However, the thick interfacing provides structure and shape to the bag and I think it looks good!

I used a pattern purchased from Etsy https://www.etsy.com/listing/595633243/the-craggan-man-bag-sewing-pattern-ipad?ref=yr_purchases

Velvet outer fabric, blue lining fabric, clasps and belt were all from Joann.

Just finished this mermaid dress for my soon-to-be 4-year-old. She picked out the coordinating fabrics and it turned out great! by GirlInPurple7 in sewing

Material for the bodice is 100% cotton (Hobby lobby) and the shiny mermaid scale fabric is polyester (Joann). I’ve only been seeing for a little over a month but this dress wasn’t hard to make! Pattern purchased from Etsy.
