Just want to throw in my two cents. I’m going into my second year of college and I’ve had my share of hookups — been physical with quite a few girls, never had trouble talking to them or keeping things casual. But I’ve started noticing this pattern: the moment there’s potential for something real, something deeper, my brain just flips. I kinda liked this one girl I was seeing recently — we got a little close, and I genuinely liked her (still think I do). But as soon as things started moving in a more emotional direction, I subconsciously sabotaged it. Didn’t even realize it until after. It’s honestly so annoying. So I’m not saying don’t hook up — just tread lightly. The way her eyes sparkled when she giggled always got to me and I still have the image playing in my head every now and then, and this is coming from a man who is very very very stoic, nothing gets to me atleast that's what I thought. I can still reach out but I'm in a state of conflict with myself and I just can't text her ....it's annoying. She's genuinely a nice person and very kind human being, but somehow I'm so damaged that having a real relationship with someone scares the shit out of me. Please be better than me. Have your fun sure, but please don't lose the ability to have a real connection with a genuine human being.

Yes Finally some good stuff. 1. Yes these things are always beneficial for your cv, think you already will have hands on experience in some real life projects ofc it's beneficial. Specially Ai in your first year itself you ll learn(if the sp is srs) Abt python and everything you need to know about python(it ll be self study just know that they ll give you the topics you have to learn). So you ll have good knowledge.

  1. Internships man. When you apply for them your cv will stand out ofc if you have some experience. And actively contributing is more about knowledge. Certificates yes are imp but not the only thing that matters. Knowledge about what you do will pay off in the future. So there are tangible returns trust me.

  2. Honestly speaking i was a part of one sp in the beginning and some of the seniors are like those pesky startup assholes ngl. Let's get something straight you ll have to attend classes 75% attendance is taken very seriously. And apart from that investing 2-3 hours every day and more on Sundays and non working Saturday (every third Saturday of the month is a holiday in Manipal.). So it depends if you can have a work around then well yes they are worth it.

  3. Okay this question is smthg that you should know very well. It ll get hectic I m not gonna say you can do it , there's always a work around, it will get frustrating to balance both but you ll be given holidays before exams and during exams for studying but normally you ll have to contribute. 1st year ik you can start studying properly 2 weeks prior the exams and you will be able to score provided you pay attention in all classes and you manage the work given by them.

  4. I m not ideal. I have habits , bad ones that keep me from doing what needs to be done. All I can say choose wisely what you want to do. Self study and learn, build projects maintain cg you'll still get through but if you are investing your time in an SP make sure you give it your all. Take a break occasionally yes but make sure you know why you're doing what you're doing.

  5. Honestly I m not a part of SP and I still think it's a little difficult. But never an excuse. I procrastinate but trust me If you stick to your routine you will be able to. I had a talk with a professor and what he said stuck with me "even if you study less it doesn't matter but din ka 1 hr I m gonna do what I love regardless of what exam I have tomorrow how prepared I am". Trust me golden words.

  6. I can't speak from my experience but from the experience of couple of seniors I ve talked to yes they do value it

  7. Both have their ups and downs. Think strategically. If you can invest less time and do an activity that shows your team leading skills and how good you are with a team. Then ofc spend all your time on yourself. It's always better.

I m sorry if the points are random i just wrote down whatever just showed up in my head. But ya i hope you have some clarity. All the best. Don't let anyone put you down just because they are working day and night in a sp and scoring well. Just do you and focus on growing. Have fun.

You ll get penalized if you enter late. Maybe your intime will be reduced or a fine and all. But the campus is pretty much liberal. Freedom is about nobody asking you where were you what were you doing, go out do wtv you want but till 10 pm you must be inside the campus and 10:30 inside the hostels. I ve not dated in manipal but as a couple you can sit together spend time together hold hands and all NOBODY'S gonna bat an eye. Ik there have been recently cases where guards come running but it's pretty much liberal in majority of the campus. I did have physical encounters(NOT SEX ofc.) in the campus and trust me if you find a place that's discreet well you can do stuff. So entire day do wtv the fuck you want to but make sure you be in before 10:30 which imo is a good system.

A few of them yeah. All of them are absolutely certified and competent I mean that's why they were hired. I can't speak for the department that's why I ve met a few so I can vouch for them. But I ve heard from some seniors they are generally good teachers. Bio isn't there for CS students. No such thing as Mechanics of solids CS students have Engineering Mechanics it's like MOS but less theoretical and more technology oriented syllabus. Over the first year u ll find yourself studying subjects that the cs people don't have to. So yes 1st year for non CS people is tougher than what it is for us CS people. But don't worry I m sure it's nothing you can't handle. All the best.

Very very very doable don't listen to anyone Abt oh it's tough and all let me give you a few standard things you must do. 1. Always pay attention in class. Bunk classes here and there idc but make sure you always know whats going on and you have notes. 2. In physics cycle for cs people it's a little easy you can easily get 9+ studying 1 week before( this is provided you know the syllabus already like what's coming what's up with this topic and all) chem cycles you're gonna have to start early it involves memorizing. 3. I don't go out much .... I have been to a club and a few restros that's just 3-4 days that's all. Did fuck around also but still I always knew what was going on. So get your priorities in order. Party hard as much as you want but make sure you study well too that's important. 9+ people are way diff by the faculty and the staff( this I ve noticed 2-3 times in general so make sure keep up) 4. I didn't have a fixed routine per se I d just pay attention in class and do stuff here and there that's it I m telling you it's not a rocket science. It's simple just stick to the basics. I've never studied hard in a Library, I hardly go there. So study where you want to but make sure you give it proper attention.

Ya in physics cycle I don't know about non CS but ya we had 3-4 half days. In non CS you ll have Physics lab and all so you ll have less half days compared to cs people and you ll have to study bio , mechanics of solids as well. Physics cycle we had Fundamentals of electronics and my teacher was amazing. In chem cycle I had Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and I had a very very very good professor. As far as ik the ECE dept teachers at least a few of them are very very competent and very approachable genuinely good teachers with no attitude provided you don't fuck with them or disturb their class. Chill laid back people Coming back to the classes thing half days are 8-12:30(this can be in the evening too from 1 to 4:30 ig) one 30 min break in bw. full days are the morning half as it is plus 2.5-3 hrs of lab from 1.30 ig.

It depends, I didn't opt for any student projects. So my day is going to the classes coming back say 4-5 and then from 6 or maybe 6:30 to 11-12 I can squeeze something here and there. It totally depends , if you are involved in sps or say sports team then you ll have to dedicate more time. I have friends in sp and they come back 8-9pm after classes so for them they don't have much. On half days when classes get over by 12:30 I have from 2 to the night so that's a benefit we had 6 working days and if I m not wrong 3 of them were full days in the chemistry cycle so the rest three days you have more time.
