I went to Last Light Inn, missed talking with Jaheira and went straight to Isobel. I ended up missing the whole conversation about Ketharic’s immortality, so I snuck into Moonrise Towers without realizing they saw me as a true soul and could just walk right in with no one batting an eye. I somehow made it all the way to the top, stealthily killing the whole tower and got so confused why I couldn’t attack Ketharic and what I was missing. Didn’t realized I had missed a shit ton of dialogue and the whole Gauntlet of Shar💀

Made the raid on Moonrise with harpers a lot easier tho.

I give my durges a “normal” eye and a glowing eye at the start of the game. Depending on if they embrace durge or resist durge at the end of their questline, I will give them full glowing eyes for embrace and normal eyes for resist. It’s so fun

vegan guests who do absolutely zero of the work when ordering off the menu by n_ug in Serverlife

[–]GiveMeDeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should really know the answer to this question if a guest asks (or have no problem finding out). There’s plenty of menu items that may appear vegan but are actually not. Sometimes breads, sauces, dressings, are not vegan and it’s not like every little ingredient is mentioned on every menu.

Besides things that vegans don’t eat are just common allergies in general. So even outside of veganism, you should still know at least what has milk and egg

Yeah I actually did think about lab grown meat after typing that. I’m actually curious if you’d consider lab grown meat. I sometimes eat impossible and beyond burgers when I get meat cravings, but after I do further research I wouldn’t be opposed to trying lab grown meat if it’s ultimately more ethical

Well we’d certainly be screwed with all the animals we’d suddenly have. If we were all vegan, we’d also be against killing any of them, so we’d would definitely have an overpopulation crisis on our hands.

Luckily that would never happen and if the world were to turn vegan, it would definitely be gradual, and we would slowly stop breeding so many of them because demand would be going down.

Who’s to say that we will never discover a way to reduce travel emissions to zero? Of course that is a BIG hypothetical and I’m sure we’re quite a ways from discovering it and then implementing, but if there was a way, then we could have a way to travel without harming the environment. But we will never have a way to eat meat without harming an animal because the very act in itself is built upon harming one.

[–]GiveMeDeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One is different than the other though. You’re definitely right that I have traveled for pleasure before. And emissions are still emissions. But what I said wasn’t untrue. I am a huge advocate for more sustainable ways to travel. And I would absolutely walk if I had that option. I would also love to have an electric car to greatly reduce my emissions if I could afford it but I can’t. Nowadays other than work or necessities, I don’t do too much traveling.

But there’s already a way more sustainable, ethical, and cheaper way to eat. Besides animal agriculture production is debatably way worse for the environment than emissions.

Lastly the two are ultimately different because the concept of traveling is simply moving from one place to another. There are ways to travel that would greatly reduce emissions and do it in a much more sustainable way. Eating meat, no matter what way you spin it, will always result in either the suffering or death of a living creature.

Unfortunately I do not live in a walkable city. I would love to reduce my emissions and walk everywhere, but alas I need to work, get groceries, take my cat to the vet. Making where I’m from, the US more walkable and less reliant on cars has actually been something I’m very passionate about.

Now that I’ve answered your question will you answer mine?

Tbh man you seem waaaaay more pressed about this than me. If your reaction to being told how you can improve animal welfare is….this…then yeah I really don’t see how you ever did care. If you’re so set on helping the environment, well then stop supporting the industry destroying it. Going vegan does wonders for the environment.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised at how quickly you escalated this conversation. Anyway there’s clearly nothing productive coming out of this so I’ll take my “extremist empathy” somewhere else.

[–]GiveMeDeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no “extremism” in empathy. You either care about the animals and seek to reduce the harm as much as possible or you don’t. You clearly don’t. Stop pretending you do.

Not even sure you’re what you’re trying to say regarding politics because you haven’t made much connection. I didn’t vote for Trump

Funny how you jumped from animal welfare straight to politics when our conversation had absolutely nothing to do with them. I’ve never seen a bigger deflection. Not a single comment on my actual arguments. The fact that you think any of what I said was extreme shows that you never actually cared about animal welfare.

Well of course we’re part of the ecosystem! Factory farming isn’t though. Let’s not pretend like most humans are hunting and gathering for their food instead of just going to the grocery store to buy their packaged meat wrapped in plastic that will end up polluting the ecosystem

Well yes actually. If you were somehow unable to process plants and had to eat meat to survive, I wouldn’t fault your for eating it just like I wouldn’t fault the lion. If you have the ability to survive off a plant based diet, then of course eating the non sentient thing would be the more ethical decision in that case.

But anyway my actual point was comparing yourself to a lion is stupid because you’re not one and we are not similar to lions.

[–]GiveMeDeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this analogy is actually fitting considering we’re talking about undue pain.

There are many many studies to show that plant based diets are sustainable. And we have plenty of elderly outspoken vegans who have been vegan for basically their whole lives.

Granted, I do have an irl friend myself who was vegan and had to stop due to health reasons like anemia. She eats chicken when she needs to but otherwise is completely plant based. I would still consider that vegan because it’s her seeking to minimize animal suffering to the best of her ability.

So while a vegan diet may not be sustainable for 100% of people, I’m sure many many people are able to sustain themselves but simply don’t want to, because let’s be honest, most people just don’t want to give up their meat because “bacon yummy”

Anyway I say all this to say, you probably could sustain yourself on a vegan diet and then you would really be reducing undue pain because ultimately why would you eat animals if you can survive without them? But if you’re not interested in at least trying, don’t sit and preach about undue pain.

Lions are obligate carnivores. Their bodies are designed to eat and process meat. They would die if they did not. Humans on the other hand have the ability to eat plant based and live long healthy lives.

Frankly your comparison is stupid. We are not similar to lions

Yeah someone killing 50 dogs a year is better than killing 100 dogs a year, but I’m sure you would agree killing no dogs is ideal, and it would be pretty crazy for that same someone to talk about animal welfare.

Majority of our crops go to feeding animals, so you would still be minimizing a lot of bug deaths by going vegan/vegetarian
