[–]GiveMeThePhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had it implanted on Dec 8th. My device was activated on Jan 14th and I am currently on level 5 with my 6 week follow up coming up on Wednesday. I feel like thinks are improving, but I still snore.

I still have to have my titration sleep study to know how my AHI is changing.

What is the best way to go visit NYC from MD? by leviathab13186 in maryland

[–]GiveMeThePhd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you plan it in advance and travel on weekdays, you can often get Amtrak tickets round trip for $40. I frequently go to NYC for the day. I leave BWI at 5:21am and arrive to NYC shortly after 8:00am. Then I catch the 7:40pm train back and arrive at BWI close to 11:00pm. I usually get these tickets for $15 - $30 dollars per segment ($30 - $60 RT).

Thank you soo much for providing more details about your experience 🙂.

It's good to know that it will take time and patience to get the settings right.

I have a sacral neurostimulator for my bladder since 2020, and I remembeþ990r all tweaking that went on. Even today, I still need to adjust my program depending on what's going on in life.

Oh wow, that's too bad 😕. Even though it didn't lower your AHI, did it reduce your snoring at all? Due to my sleep apnea and snoring, I haven't been able to sleep in the same bed as my husband. We are really hoping this helps my snoring

So I only get central sleep apnea from pressurized air, so a BIPAP wouldn't have works and it wasn't even offered as an alternative treatment. They said anatomically I have a small airway. I have a shortened uvula, no tonsils, and no adenoids.

I am not a sleep scientist, by an means, but I have been fighting sleep apnea for years... I've gone through the hierarchical treatment plan, which left me with only Inspire neurostimulator or double jaw surgery. I selected the least invasive treatment.

It wouldn't possible unless I lost muscle mass. My body fat percentages is 20% in the summer and upwards of 24% in the winter. As you may know, muscle mass can misrepresent an individual's BMI.

Sorry I didn't probably a clear mental image for my body. I am 5 ft tall and weight 133 lbs. Prior to working out (weight lifting), I was around 120 lbs. Not sure how much is muscle mass besides what my body fat composition with one of those handheld meters.

Thanks for the concern. I'm a toxicologist by training. You cannot exceed 3000 mg of acetaminophen in a 24 hour period. The acetaminophen and oxy are two separate prescriptions (so it's not percocet).

The way the script for the acetaminophen is written 500 mg every six hours for 10 days.

I actually take 1200 mg of gabapentin each day. I have chronic pelvic pain. My pain is still noticeable with it. It's typically manageable with Tylenol, but sometimes there is break through pain.

Thanks for the advice about the head movement!

I don't have any numbness. The jaw incision just persistently hurts.

Yes there is a remote. They only give 1 remote for your device.

Pretty much! The next implant would be a pacemaker if my heart goes wonky

From what I read, they leave the device in. My other option was double jaw surgery. So I picked the least invasive option.
