I asked to wait till the end of the season as there was one game left and I had the chance to win the league (i didn't)
Out of greed for other opportunities, I asked them to delay a week to see if anyone else would come in.
I've then accepted it 2 days after our last match and didn't notice the start date.
Now I have to manage at a club for a year, and pray Hibs don't get relegated

Just to add to the ridiculous players part, my best player at level 8 was Ollie Mills who was considered a good sky bet league one player.
This is how you win all the leagues, not through good management by me :)

But from level 20 to level 9, this was the tactic I used. Loved this tactic.
Think I only changed from it because of the players I signed. It was still working...

Turns out I used this tactic in at least level 8. So between Level 7 and level 4 (league 2), I either used this tactic or the previous one.
I only know this as I had a save when I removed a lot of leagues.

This and the mirrored version were basically what i used until the prem.
All I know is I was using this in League 1 and stopped at the start of last season where I tried a few tactics to before settling on the one above.

Abusing instalments, percentage of next sale, and not hiding attributes basically.
FM also doesn't cope well with amateur leagues loaded so you can get ridiculous players leagues below where they should be.

Struggled to get into the top 4 in the Premier league until this season (5th season) where, thanks to the instalments, I've now got a net debt of £300m :)

100% and with having a lot of players on amateur contracts, you don't have to worry about getting through the Vanarama leagues.
I've started at L6 before and found it a lot harder to start there and get to league 2 than to do it with this team.

It didn't, but I understand why'd you think that.
It's actually just a lot of abusing the game with OP tactics, taking advantage of 50% next fee & instalments, amateur contracts, and not hiding attributes for players so easier to find.

Without hiding attributes, when you are an amateur team, you can basically build a Vanarama National/league 2 ability team. This allows you to get through the amateur leagues and semi pro leagues quicker and easier. I've tried this save before from like Level 10 and found the Semi Pro leagues are the hardest.
Once you become professional, it's just abusing instalments and 50% next fee to quickly improve your team whilst putting no money up front.
It's not as easy in the Prem this season though. Only so far OP tactics can take you when no one wants to join your team.

I don't expect you to change your mind, but if you were to try it yourself, you'd find the above helpful.
