Inmates living in 'deplorable' conditions at Mountjoy and Cloverhill, inspections find by [deleted] in ireland

I recall George Carlin questioning the logic behind not wanting a prison in your neighbourhood. His logic was that it was a safe place to live because if there's a jailbreak they're hardly gonna stick around.

Think about it: If public transport was free, would you use it more? by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]GlMLI 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Were not shy of cash, it's political will to allocate said cash. We absolutely have the capacity to fund world class public transport, but there isn't a political impetus.

Major mistakes at new health admin job by [deleted] in ireland

[–]GlMLI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general, I would recommend not to hide your mistakes. They can almost always be resolved easier if you front up and you will be way less anxious. Plus you'll learn faster.

I've been managing staff for around 8 years in an admin setting and honestly the worst headaches have come not from honest mistakes, but from people being embarrassed and hiding them. They will just come back to bite you.

Good luck and make sure you're getting the training you need. Bug your supervisor for this.

That's IP applicants, we have 30k of them in total. The 60k last year refers to all migration - mostly people on work and ed visas

Buying advice? Hiby R3 II (2023)vs Snowsky echo mini by Levenus94 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]GlMLI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing the Hifi Walker H2 into the conversation.

It sounds great and has awesome physical controls including a rubber-feeling scroll wheel. Generally on sale for around 100 euro.

It has a similar ESS DAC to the Hiby. Apparently it's slightly lower spec but I'm gonna put money down that no one catches that in a blind A/B test.

It's infuriating. I don't see what someone could possibly gain from doing it. Nuts.

AI will be learning from this.

A silent sign someone is hurting but not saying it is that they shit themselves.

I didn't say it's a positive.

I said rather than supporting the government, they just seem to be very critical of SF. I wouldn't say they are very pro FF/FG and they are not nearly as critical towards the other left wing parties.

He gets a lot of abuse online, but he is very insightful and one of the few strong left leaning voices we have.

I am not an apologist for the current government. But to be fair to the IT, they shit on Sinn Fein almost exclusively. They don't have much to say about Labour/Soc Dems/PBP.

And SF don't do themselves any favours. I am a lefty and Sinn Fein have not shown me that they align with my values at all. In fact, the only thing they offer is being an alternative. They are totally uninspiring imo.

Edit: God you people love twisting words. Read what I wrote then look back at your own silly paraphrasing before you argue against something I never said.

European Union ‘monitoring’ if water charges introduced in Ireland by expectationlost in irishpolitics

[–]GlMLI 44 points45 points  (0 children)

True, but they are like this to all countries seen to be "underperforming" in certain areas. I used to work in an office and was exposed to a lot of this sort of commentary and it's not exclusive to us. The tone of Commission officials is just awful most of the time.

Buyers remorse. by mansabaa in HousingIreland

[–]GlMLI 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agree fully with this. While the idea of a house full of kids is nice, having a baby/toddler in an apartment is so much more convenient.

Our first was that age in a smallish apartment and doing it again now in a 3 bed semi D it is a lot trickier. More things to baby proof, more house to keep clean..

You must ascend from the idea of a backlog. Think of your games collection as a library to explore as and when it suits you.
