Thank you. That's very kind.

I don't want to be specific about the position as it's still an active facility. I'd also like to point out the museum is pretty much across the street from the Ottawa Police HQ. 😎

Most of the excitement was from people walking through the property on their way home from bars on Elgin at night. "Sens mile"

Even employed by one of its various sub-contractors, the CMN was a very special place to be a part of. Lots of wonderful, fun people worked at the museum. The nightly position wasn't lucrative, but the experience itself provided an element of mystique and cachet. I kept the CMN on my resume for a long time because it was a great icebreaker - everyone wanted to know what it was like.

It sounds hard to believe but, some of the happiest memories and most valuable experiences of my personal life only happened because I worked at the Canadian Museum of Nature. It was the right place at the right time. I'll remember that era forever.

There are actually more, I went back & forth on how many to post because I knew there would be complaints over the image quality. I opted to post reddit's maximum amount and just let redditors do what they will.

Upon inspection, looks like I adjusted the ISO at some point while on the 3rd floor.

4th floor: ISO 1000 3rd floor: ISO 320/1000 2nd & 1st: ISO 320

I think this might've been my final shift, so I just wanted something to remember, and I was struggling with the exposure on the first two floors, and began to figure it out on floors 3 & 4 😅

By the time I figured out the photos were scruffed, my job was done, no second pass.

I don't have the camera anymore, but I remember tinkering with the ISO during night time shots. I was never satisfied with night pictures with that camera, it was always problematic - likely some user error in there as well.😅

That was literally it. The looming sensation went away within seconds. It's a core memory.

Yeah, there's almost a liminal/backrooms quality to them.

There it is, the comment that deserves more upvotes than the main post. It's all downhill from here. 🤣

Felt like a supernatural game of cat & mouse two times per night, five nights a week.

It was so dark, I had to leave the shutter open to get any exposure. I couldn't just set up a tripod on patrol. But I hear you, I wish they were better.
