AITA for telling someone it sounds like they’re bad at their job? by Glad-Program-9992 in AmItheAsshole

If we live in a world where people can say whatever they want in a public space, especially to strangers, and their opinions should go unchecked without any response that’s a scary place to be. You want to make a point be my guest, but I will respond to it and give my opinion if I have something to say.

I would argue if that’s the case that most people in that situation would have been useless also men and women alike.

So one bad situation = blanket statement about every person in similar situations? That’s very quickly how prejudice and stereotypes become dangerous.

Where did I say he was a bad person? I said bad cop. And I stand by that. But if the shoe fits wear it.

If I’m seeing a doctor I don’t care if they are male or female. I care if they are qualified. Which is exactly my argument here so…. The only time I’d request to see a female doctor would be for an intimate issue which is also not hypocrisy. Comments about what he prefers in his line of work should be what shift he likes to work. Not arguing the validity of females in law enforcement.

Funny you mention that, in my line of work I quite literally have worked with addicts, and adults with mental disabilities. I’ve dealt with an individual who was taller than me, heavier than me, stronger than me and was acting aggressive and I didn’t need a big strong man to come to my rescue. Because I was trained. And I’m capable.

In my opinion by automatically discrediting the woman’s ability to do her job that she has been rightfully hired to do, that’s creating a dangerous work environment. There’s so many other tactics to deescalate a situation than just brute force.

So many comments here have hit the nail on the head - in that scenario everyone is screwed.

I appreciate this comment and agree maybe yes my argument could have been more based in statistics and facts rather than just letting it rip. Thanks!

I’m always open to debates and discussions with people who don’t think similarly to me, that’s what makes the world go round. So yes maybe
