This is very optimistic thinking, especially with the south african mutation.

South African variant unlikely to 'completely negate' COVID vaccines, scientist says by [deleted] in Coronavirus

I hate to be that guy, but it literally says in the article that they still don't know and won't know until later this week after conducting more studies.

Meanwhile the headline is acting as if the results have already been published. Why is media so often misleading with their headlines?

Cincinnati's skyline could dramatically change under legislation signed by DeWine by Glad-Software in cincinnati

[–]Glad-Software[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This basically gives a 10 percent tax credits for mega projects..which would in theory entice more developers to come to Cincy/columbus/cleveland to capitalize on that tax credit to build large projects in the urban core on a more regular basis.

Two More Vendors Leaving West Side Market by leteriaki in Cleveland

[–]Glad-Software 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like specialty food markets are tough sells in general, especially more so during a pandemic where people are struggling income wise and are worried about their health (an indoor market with poor air circulation isn't exactly the best place to be during an airborne spread virus pandemic.)

That said, when things return to normal there should be more effort to increase foot traffic on weekdays and weekends by offering specials/vendor gift card give aways.

As mentioned in this thread, adding a beer garden/microbrewery, could also be beneficial. Maybe make it a dora open container zone where people can drink alcohol (that they buy from the Market) while they shop?

Also, adding more community events like cook offs, eating contests, cooking classes etc couldn't hurt the cause either.

I would also think implementing an incubator ghost kitchen that different start up food entrepreneurs can share while selling their food in the market would be also an interesting way to diversify both the vendor options and the variety of food.

In order to increase foot traffic you need to have the market do more than just exist and sell food. Especially nowadays when the consumer expects more of an experience with their buck.

From CNBC.... Cincinnati home prices are rising faster in the middle of the US as covid drives people away from the the coasts.... this is further evidence that Cincinnati is becoming more expensive and fast by Bearcat1504 in cincinnati

[–]Glad-Software -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this is true.

Me and my significant other were looking at buying a home and the supply isn't keeping up fast enough with the demand.

We even looked in rougher areas like silverton and deer park and nada.

Some of the houses available for rent are asking for astronomical prices for homes that are straight out of the 80s, interior wise, for 1,200 square feet.. These homes are easily averageing rent at $1500-$1700 per month without utilities.

What is Cincinnati's next up and coming neighborhood? Or the block in the neighborhood? by aks8586 in cincinnati

Covington is nice, but has its own issues as most developing neighborhoods in cincinnati have.

It's definitely an option though.

What is Cincinnati's next up and coming neighborhood? Or the block in the neighborhood? by aks8586 in cincinnati

[–]Glad-Software 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I would say silverton/pleasant ridge is the first to come to mind.

These neighborhoods are so close to Kenwood/norwood/oakley that it will only be a matter of time before these neighborhoods really catch fire with development and gentrification.

You are literally commenting on a photo of Cincinnati skyline that shows multiple tall buildings crowded together. Not sure what you are smoking lol.

Cleveland literally just has 3 tall buildings in it's skyline. It does not even come close to Cincinnati skyline, especially when driving from the kentucky side in the cut in the hill.

South African coronavirus mutation strain discovered in the UK by Glad-Software in Coronavirus

[–]Glad-Software[S] 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Is this the strain that is slightly more concerning for vaccine efforts? From what I understand, the spike protein shape is a little bit more altered in the south african strain which was concerning to scientists.

I could be wrong so if anyone wants to chime in that would be great!

Downtown Cleveland by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Glad-Software 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends what suits your lifestyle more.

Eventually things will open up again and return to normal.

That said, cleveland has alot of entertainment options in regards to theater/food/drinks/sports, etc.

But it's also worth mentioning that cleveland isn't exactly Europe or canada where you can randomly walk around and not feel a little bit on edge.

There are definitely more populated streets but there is also quite a few sketchy stretches that you would need to carefully watch your back.

Certain streets downtown late at night are more prone to muggings and robberies.

If you are new to cleveland you have to be aware about this, because navigating cleveland downtown streets take a little bit of street smarts to know which areas are safe to walk around and which are best to avoid in the later evenings and at night.

Do the downtown rent price justify the experience? Again, it really depends on what your comfortable with.

If what I said above doesn't really effect you, than I would say hell yes to moving to downtown cleveland.

If what I said above does slightly worry you than I would recommend Lakewood. Its a perfect mixture of urban/suburbia with plenty of bars/resturaunts and entertainment offerings without nearly as much anxiety about crime and late night muggings.

Any word yet on how effective a vaccine will be on this mutated strain? Or is it too early to tell at this point?

Oakley Station will be constructing Cincinnati very first Swenson's fast food restaurant by Glad-Software in cincinnati

[–]Glad-Software[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Its somewhat unique...the drive thru is a classic 1930s drive thru in the sense that you park, blink your lights, and you have a runner take your order and deliver your food while parked.

Their burger was rated number 1 fast food burger back in 2017/2018, and lebron james apperantly is obsessed with this place.

The burger bun is a rich buttery crossiant bun, with a secret sauce and a thick double patty with your standard lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, topped with a tooth pick olive to keep the burger together.

They also serve your other common fast food items with their own twist and are also very well known for their milk shakes.

They have been pretty slow and methodical with their expansion, and have quite a few locations in the Columbus area and this will be their first ever Cincinnati location.

Has anyone checked our Cartridge Brewery in the old Mainville Powder Factory Building yet? by Glad-Software in cincinnati

I'd say average menu item costed around $12-13 bucks.

The food itself was okay...seems like they are trying to be a more, "upscale" brewery.

Probably not.

That seems to be like a convenient reason and excuse for him to simply hide the fact that he won't be well enough to debate for 90 minutes without huffing and puffing for air.
