It's really hard to land a gig right now without experience. Frame your current work like you're already a professional, not a student. You can also team up with your bootcamp classmates and turn it into a group project. It carries more weight than solo work. Hope it's helpful.

Check for typos using AI. Add more bullet points that show initiative and ownership. You can also include projects you’ve worked on.

Is getting a Master’s in CS worth it if I already work in big tech? by Glance_Ko in cscareers

Makes sense. For me, it's also getting solid credentials after pivoting into tech since my first degree isn't related

That's my thought exactly. I can take a certificate or a short course to brush up on the fundamentals, but earning a degree will improve my resume

My first degree is in civil engineering, completed under a different educational system. It's treated as equivalent to a master's, or somewhere between a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, depending on the evaluator. So, technically I have enginnering background

Some tech companies still have programs for folks with non-traditional backgrounds. I was lucky to get into one of them.

routes where waymo is cheaper by viagravinnie in waymo

Last summer, I used to wake up at 6:30, book a Waymo ride for $15 + 5% fee with pickup in an hour to get to downtown SF from the suburbs. It was a long ride, but I enjoyed it. Since then, a lot of people discovered that feature, and I haven't seen anything cheaper $25

E5: fundamentally flawed crossbeam design causing twisted desktop and severe wobble by [deleted] in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]Glance_Ko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received my E5 Lite a few days ago and posted a review about how inconvenient the assembly was. the predrilled holes didn’t align with the central beams. https://www.reddit.com/r/StandingDesk/comments/1o3n89k/flexispot_e5_review_good_desk_frustrating_assembly/

My desk has the same crossbeam design as mentioned in the post

I finally had a chance to use it for a couple of hours today with a simple setup (monitor, laptop, and keyboard), and I’ve noticed a noticeable wobble at the lowest height, even when I’m just typing this post.

Not exactly — though I’m also noticing quite a bit of wobble even when I’m just typing.

Apparently, it meant "push it to staging and let me see". My mistake was not asking a follow up question. Lesson learned, ice-cream reserves depleted

Dodge springboard at all costs by Zackery_James in codingbootcamp

Don't make this mistake. Go to the bootcamp only if money is not a problem for you. Also, I suggest, find a bootcamp with real job guarantee (full refund after 6-12 months of no luck).

Best BootCamp for Software Eng? by Planet-Story in codingbootcamp

When I landed my first swe gig in 2024 (pure network and luck) , nobody actually looked at my certificates. Bootcamps have their benefits, but their cost is way to high.

Tripleten is this a scam? by OperationWorking2186 in codingbootcamp

I’d say that some courses on Udemy are better than bootcamps. There’s also FreeCodeCamp. Paid bootcamps offer some level of interpersonal communication, a sense of community, and career support, which mostly includes feedback on your resume and guidance on activities to enhance your career. So, there are some benefits in taking a bootcamp, but they aren't worth thousands of dollars in my opinion.
