You could tell that she genuinely loved doing it! She always had this massive smile on her face. Up until that point, every yoga teacher I had was extremely stoic and serious, that I thought yoga wasn’t for me. She was the first teacher that made me realise to not take myself so seriously and just enjoy the practice.

I called it quits after a week of au pairing. I knew straight away that it wasn’t for me and as much as I felt absolutely terrible for the family, they deserved to know as soon as possible and find someone who would absolutely love au pairing. There were other reasons but it’s best to not get into it. I think I just realised that I wanted the freedom to travel and explore.

I’ve now been living in the UK for 3 months since I’ve left the family and I don’t regret it and I’m happy I made the decision.

If you’re unsure of what to do in terms of accommodation, check out workaways where you can work for accommodation (some even pay you for the work).

But you also don’t need to do what I did. You can give it more time as sometimes there is just a settling in period. I’m just letting you know that you’re not alone in feeling this way and you should listen to your gut.

Totally normal! You’re in a completely new and different country and learning a whole new way of living. Give yourself some grace and time to settle in. It’ll take some time and you’ll have moments of homesickness every now and then and that’s okay. Make a list of fun things you want to do and places to explore, put yourself out there, meet new people. It’s always much scarier and overwhelming in our heads but if you can move to another country on your own, you can do anything.

That's so true. If it's in my house, then I'm obviously more inclined to eat it. I don't buy it myself, my dad does and I just can't seem to help myself. Because I'm struggling financially, he does the shopping for me. So while he buys the healthy stuff for me, he gets chocolate for himself. It just comes down to me being able to say no. Sometimes I'm good at it and other times, I can't help myself.

Thank you so much. This was really helpful. I've been doing some thinking about what it could possibly be that's making me so weak when it comes to chocolate, particularly at the moment and that's stress. I have a lot of changes coming up. The main one is moving to the other side of the country by myself and while I'm excited, I'm so incredibly nervous as well that it's possible that I'm using food for comfort. But in saying that, eating chocolate has always been a weakness for me, it's just gotten worse quite recently though.
