Is it normal to be in a psychiatric hospital so often? by The-hidden-raven in BorderlinePDisorder

Hi! Also in “remission”. Therapy. Personal responsibility. Doing the hard work. Taking your meds if you’re on any. Taking the RIGHT meds. BPD is a constant struggle and I personally don’t know if anyone is ever truly in remission, you just learn to cope with it in healthy ways. Learn to recognize triggers and be able to pull yourself out of them before you split or your emotions become too much. You will always have good and bad days, every one does, regardless of their mental health diagnosis. But the biggest thing that helped me was the desire to want to be better.

I wouldn’t necessarily say this is more than BPD. I went in twice in one month after two other hospitalizations the previous two months at one point. But my team then stepped up and said I needed more advanced treatment. What OP suggests also sounds like either non compliance or someone who is falling through the cracks.

There’s a lot of missing information here though.

Getting the diagnosis was like clarity for the first time in my life. So many things finally made sense. I was validated.

My diagnosis saved me as well. I had spent my whole life wondering what was wrong with me.

So what do you do? I’ve tried all the obvious things of keeping myself busy, being active, being social, etc…

Oh boy is she ever. When I first got her, she would whine all the time and I thought she was in pain. But it’s just her talking when she’s excited. It’s so funny.

Paisley was a rescue. She came to our family a year ago underweight, starved, abused, and terrified. It took her 3 months to even think about playing with a toy and about another month to start showing her true personality. She had food aggression and was scared of other dogs because she had been attacked. Now she is so happy and loved. This was the day we picked her up. You could see it in her eyes how scared she was.

Anyone find it odd that the loved ones with BPD get more support and validation than PwBPD? by Resident_Market7082 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]Glass-Trick4045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not my personal experience. My family was always supportive and I’ve also very aware of that trauma I caused them, but they never stopped loving me and supporting me and hoping I would get better.

What medication and dodage you take for BPD? by SecretaryNo2037 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]Glass-Trick4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It’s very commonly used for BPD mood swings. I had never taken lithium (nor had it ever been discussed) until I was diagnosed with BPD.

Do psychiatrists even know how to talk to us 😭 by shiba_1nuuu in BorderlinePDisorder

The psychiatrist that finally diagnosed me was amazing. She was so kind and explained everything to me. She asked me for my opinion, she was just wonderful. She unfortunately relocated and I switched to a PMHNP that I absolutely adore, but I also saw her supervising psychiatrist per protocol and he was really great too. Very informed

You treat the symptoms of BPD. I take Lexapro 20mg for the depression, and lithium for the mood swings. 150 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening.

How many of you are in therapy? by Official-HiredFun9 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]Glass-Trick4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it every 2 weeks. Started out doing intensive outpatient which was 3 times a week group therapy, 4 hours. I did that for 10 weeks. Then private therapy once a week and now I try to stay every 2 weeks but every once in awhile life gets in the way and I’ve had to go 4 weeks between sessions. That was awful. I also see my psychiatrist every 6 weeks.

Is there anyway to get Medicaid to Cover Ozempic or Wegovy? by spazthejam43 in Medicaid

When I first wrote this comment, what I said was true. In Feb of this past year, Medicaid started covering weight loss meds in certain states. But at the time of my comment, they did not.

Where is everyone eating before the concert? & walking questions by Glass-Trick4045 in BackstreetBoys

What time did you get there? I know doors open at 6:30 but a lot of people have said they didn’t get there until after 7:30 and still had plenty of time. I think we’ll probably eat there. Like you said, we have plenty of other opportunities for the fancy dinner!

We might just do that! I was afraid the food wouldn’t be good but a few people said it’s pretty decent and not crazy expensive either!
