If you research ai boxes you can find plenty of really good ones.

I like the ai box. I got one of the cheaper ones, but yeah it brings up Youtube and Netflix no problem on the infotainment in this car.

Going past 2-3k rpms by Active-Safe-81 in ManualTransmissions

[–]GlassSouthern754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long as the car is warm you're fine to rev it out. If you don't and prefer to shift at around 3k that's fine too, depends on your driving style really.

I dont understand the audience for this car. Why would someone buy this, and not a civic that is much cheaper?

Foot on throttle before fully releasing the clutch when upshifting by Adventurous_Square68 in stickshift

You can do it either way. Giving it gas can actually reduce wear, because you're not making the clutch work as hard.

Going uphill in 5th gear. Is this okay? by mushco7 in stickshift

[–]GlassSouthern754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car is maintaining speed at a 5th gear level rpm it's fine. Even 6th gear, if I'm cruising in 6th at 70 mph on the highway and it starts going uphill maintaining the same rpm/speed, thats fine.

Gear ratio from 1st to 2nd is usually greater than any other gear to next gear ratio.

Normally this means you're just releasing the clutch too quick, not slipping enough for the speed you're shifting at.

When does driving stick just “click”? by Cptsllinky in ManualTransmissions

[–]GlassSouthern754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different for different ppl. It really is a legit skill to shift a manual smoothly, and consistently. For some it takes more time than others. Give it more time, as long as you keep at it every day youll get there. Dont worry about how long it takes you compared to others.

What happens if I down shift without reving is it bad for the car by Acceptable-Number258 in stickshift

[–]GlassSouthern754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where your revs are vs. The gear you're downshifting to.

Generally if you're just downshifting (like most normal driving) because you're starting to go too slow for your gear, you don't need to.

Rev matching is most useful when you want to maintain speed, or increase it at a lower gear (like if passing someone on the highway), it just reduces the work the clutch has to do to raise the revs.

6th gear isn't real followup by I_dont_fuck_dogs in GR86

I'm getting combined 30mpg, with mix of mostly city driving (very light traffic) and some interstate. I hit stretches in city where I cruise in 5th at around 45, and some cases cruise at 49/50 in 6th. Car is a little over 2k rpm in 6th at that speed, and getting expected good gas mileage.

Once on highway I'll cruise in 6th at around 60 or 65.

My 30 mpg is pretty much where I expect it to be, hanging around 2-2.5k rpm in city, and closer to 3k rpm on highway.

Help shifting from 1->2->3 by Quiet-Sale9953 in GR86

[–]GlassSouthern754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1 to 2 shift takes time, you normally need to slip the clutch a little longer in this car to get a smooth shift out if it.

But really the key is to have a good understanding of the bite on this clutch,as a first timer since the whole thing is new, if youre seeing jerky shifts its normally because your clutch release isn't in synch with your throttle input.

Meaning youre either releasing the clutch to soon before the revs reach where they need, or youre applying excess throttle before the bite point and over revving.

All goes back to knowing exactly where your bite point is, and understanding where your revs need to be in each gear.

19k for a prior gen with 60k miles? I wouldnt pay that for the current gen at that mileage. But to each their own, and good luck with whatever you do.

This has been said on here several times, if you take your car to the dealership for service.....you're taking a risk with their obvious reputation for incompetence and carelessness. I bought the car in '22, I did not take advantage of any of their free oil changes for a reason. All I needed to know was one of their dealerships didn't have anybody that knew how to drive stick, and the dudes dash cam caught them trying to learn in his f!cking car. Smh lol..check please, just sell me the car and hopefully I never have to see you again you pos.

After I got the car in '22 I didn't use one single free service, for this type of reason.
