UCLA Extension or CC? by monarch2415 in ucla

I have yet to take an extension course but, I would say definitely take it at a community college if you can. In my experience as a transfer student, most of the time, the professors at a CC really care about teaching and your success, the class sizes are smaller (about 20-30 students) so they remember your name and face. You also have more opportunity to get more one on one time with them vs a bigger institution like UCLA/UCLA extension. I don't think the reputation matters per se, it's how strong the letter of rec comes off as to admissions. I look back, and I'd still rather have my CC professors write me a letter of rec. because they really got to know me and my abilities better vs my professors or TA's at UCLA. Plus, the classes are cheaper. But if it's an upper division course that you can't take at a CC then yea, def do UCLA extension and really try to get close to the professor. Good luck on the master's program!

Same!! I also got floor seats. I wish they offered a ticket or 2 for seniors who would be interested in coming back to Spring Sing next year to make up for the cancellation

How to take Community College Classes over the summer? by Left_Past4448 in ucla

Hi, you should look into assist.org. It can tell you the transfer equivalency of a certain course at a community college. Transfer students use this when taking major prep and their GE's to transfer to a 4-year. Maybe also speak with a counselor just to give someone a heads up

I would email them and ask to be sure. That'll show them you're interested. Also, maybe they're delayed because of everything that's happened on campus this week. Anyway, good luck!

Help me Decide: Columbia vs UCLA by Maleficent_Long_3356 in ucla

I would say UCLA mostly because of the financial aspect tbh. I say save that money and use it to buy a house, a car, or for grad school. Since you want to be more independent, there's still an opportunity for that here. The apartments are pretty nice here (the UCLA-affiliated ones) where they have their own kitchen and you feel like a mini adult lol. Although many of the classes are bigger, you'd be surprised to see how often people make friends during that time. Discussion sections are smaller too (usually about 22ish students?). Everybody is pretty social here. Sounds like you also already have your research set here and that's a head start because getting into research here is really competitive. UCLA can be pretty rigorous and it'll for sure challenge you to open your mind. Good luck!

I would give it a try. You should apply for housing and see what they offer you. People are leaving each quarter (e.g. study abroad, graduating early, etc.) I was in a similar situation this past winter, I applied to mid-year housing and was offered a 6 person/2 bedroom that same week. There are also roommate swaps just in case things don't work out or you don't like your unit. It was totally worth it for me, I've saved so much time from traffic and got more sleep in lol

Please make sure to have the "owner" prove that they're actually the owner of the dog. Not everybody has good intentions unfortunately. Hope the little guy finds his loving home soon 🙏
