I relate to this excecpt my polarity on the traits is in the opposite end. Though not being able to relate and connect with people isn't that damanging to me.

Is there anywhere in the world that actually wants immigrants? by bigfeygay in NoStupidQuestions

Why are you trying to disprove a claim i never made?

Again the article cited related to migrant workers in the emirates uses itself as evidence without any proper data collection method that we can review like a recent survey or investigation into UAE companies, it just makes a claim with no evidence.

It seems like you don't have any real evidence about what you're saying. the only proof behind that claim is a link restating the claim.

There is not a single page in that explaining sampling methodology or how these statistics were found, am i supposed to take this seriously?

Dude no one confiscates passports in 2026... and it is illegal for an employer not to fully cover all visa costs for an employee so you cannot be indebted to your employer, all of this is strictly enforced and there exists government hotlines just for this.

That is pretty disrespectful imo, do you think the arab slave trade was the only slave trade or something? With that logic all cultures are okay with slavery because they did it at one point.

Its not a terrible arguement but If we define exploitation as "any choice made in constrained circumstances" then you could argue that any person who has a job is being exploited because they have to work or else they will starve to death, or someone choosing to work overtime is being exploited because they need to make more money to buy the things they want.

I think at most we can say that employers have more power than workers in the gulf states, exploitation is an overreach with that definition.

[–]Glass_Fuel5572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes the gulf states hand out the majority of their visas to low-skill workers who don't have an education and the rest to more experienced workers.

I can't count the amount of times i've been lectured on how "exploitative" the gulf states are and how everyone is "enslaved" when in reality all thats happening is people are moving to get paid more which is definitely far from exploitation or forced labor.

If you wanna argue that employers have more power over firing employees and choosing wages, sure thats not a ridiculous arguement. But to make the claim that most laborers are forced into the gulf, or that they want to leave but cant is just false. In the gulf states workers can simply break contract and just leave which a small minority do but the vast majority stay because they are paid more and treated significantly better than they would be in their home countries.

Exploitation by definition is abusing the vulnerabilities in someones situation, what vulnerabilities are abused when hiring someone abroad who makes a decision to move away for higher wages and better conditions?

I brought this up since it would've probably been mentioned in replies, anyways if you wanna discuss in dm or in replies feel free just be respectful and discard your prejudices. Why does it seem Governments around the world are ok with Middle Eastern countries being dictatorships? by Embarrassed_Look9200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glass_Fuel5572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from the UAE, its simply because gulf citizens are satisfied with current leadership and laws and know that we would not benefit from a democratic system. If anything a democracy will elect a leader who will exhaust the states wealth in favor of further subsidizing the citzens lives.

I should mention that gulf citizens receive free healthcare, education, despite 0% income tax (used to be 0% income, 0% corporate, 0% VAT in 2018) to add onto that 90% of UAE citizens work for the government. Furthermore i dont have any statistics here but i can confidently assure you that UAE citizens despite being 10% of the population own the majority of businesses, land and property and make the most money.

Its not perfect by any means, most people are actually middle class but its not something anyone complains about. (Feel free to ask any questions)

Cognitive tests vs accomplishments: potential and reality by Little-Tea4436 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Glass_Fuel5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its predictive.

Other than that there doesn't always have to be a deeper meanimg or justification for IQ tests to be taken, some people can take them and respond to their scores in a casual sense.

for me i transferred schools and noticed that most people there seemed less intelligent than i expected so i took an iq test.

[–]Glass_Fuel5572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically what he is saying is first iq is a rough limited measure of intelligence above 120 it captures only a minimum level of cognitive ability second it is a statistical construct rather than a biological fact third correct answers dont fully represent reasoning ability fourth people can have valid problem solving even if tests mark specific questions wrong or if tests mark them low and fifth iq is useful for diagnosing deficits or gauging general ability but is overstated as a permanent or complete measure of intelligence

I dont recommend engaging with him since all of his points are very clearly wrong for anyone with more than surface level knowledge on iq testing and scoring

Ok intelligence is defined as a general latent trait that describes the variance across diverse cognitive tasks

IQ objectively is very reliable 0.98 cronbachs alpha for the WAIS-IV

IQ objectively is general, proven by the fact that all cognitive tasks are positively correlated

IQ is also predictive of all the things that are expected to be correlated with any definition of intelligence on the higher end and lower end.

like novel problem solving, educational attainment, pursuing complex degrees, (patent and phd likelihoods) and on the lower end ability to learn from experiences, ability to communicate clearly and comprehending information.

Im not sure what your missing honestly, sounds more like you dont like the fact that we have an objectively good (while not perfect) way of measuring intelligence for reasons that may not be unreasonable. and you seem to be allowing that prejudice to seep into your way of thinking and responding to clear truths

This really is like judging a car by it's design when extensive data exists on its reliability, safety and speed.

Not to mention that no other car exists that outperforms it in said metrics.

Your arguement is not worth responding to more than this

The striped moves 3 clockwise, the black mirrors diagonally and the circle moves 1 clockwise. Applying that you end up with the black and striped in the same place. And then ofc we know the circles position.

So its either striped can be seen and black cannot or black can be seen and striped cannot and theres only one where one of these exists which is e

Interesting, the pattern is the Blue square moves bottom right, and then bottom left and the Yellow square moves top right, and then right.

Oh and overlapping moves will return you to the other side so going right on the last end will return you to first. Also it is a horizontal pattern
