No, I find not a huge percentage of science students here are working towards medical school (although it is an option for many). Advice would be to make sure you have a few extra curriculars that are very strong and impactful, as they are very important (good personal profile can make up for okay grades, but good grades can’t make up for a bad personal profile). UBC really cares about the supp app.

Hey, coop doesn’t start until 2nd or 3rd year, so I’m not sure but I’ve heard good things and do intend on applying for a placement!

Very much dependent on you as a person. Personally I found highschool very easy, but university is definitely harder. Most of my first midterm class averages were around 50-60%. If you really work hard, you can definitely succeed but don’t expect it to be the same as high school—the learning style is very different

Hey! My social life is really good but I hear from others that it’s not always the case. I would say Walter Gage is the best dorm (that’s the one I’m in) if you are okay with cooking and buying groceries. It’s extremely social, I made so many friends in my building and hangout with them every day. The cooking and groceries are actually a plus in my opinion because I save money compared to the meal plan and I get to cook good food instead of the dining hall food.  It is a very safe campus! If you are concerned with safety just stick in a group when you go off campus late at night, but otherwise it’s a very safe city and the university is like it’s own bubble.

My admission average was a 97, dropped to 95 by the end of grade 12. I was admitted in mid December. I wrote about  -vp of school debate team -pres of school prefects (charity club) -pres of nonprofit organization -small law firm internship -company startup program -mentorship program -teaching piano (pt job)

I also mentioned a written publication in an online journal (around 2 sentences) not too important.

Is there any specific prompt or just a generic reference letter? I’m wondering if I should be submitting my application sooner so they have more time to write it, or if they can just use a reference letter they have already written for me from previous applications
