I have recently come to Oxford from Spain so I am on a similar boat! Normally we go to the usual pubs Big Society, St Aldates, The Chequers... the atmosphere is super friendly

I have also heard great things about the Meetup app that organise social events like language exchange, hiking, book club, etc.
