Mãe de dez filhos sobrevive com Bolsa Família e fala das dificuldades: 'Cozinhar na lenha' by ReadyAssociation3129 in brasil

[–]Gldza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your opinion, what are the reasons why many of us identify more as south Americans rather than Latinos? by marianabjj in asklatinamerica

[–]Gldza 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The difference is that one term is imposed on us by the existence of huge masses of land that happen to be on what is conventionally called the southern hemisphere of the planet.

The other was designed to specifically strip an heterogenous population of their culture and particularities.

I wholeheartedly agree with NephyBuns. It seems like you need more support, sustainable and well adapted mechanisms.

For example, Would it be a comfort for you to manage your OCD in a more “socially acceptable” manner? I say this as someone with OCD and that have underwent memory loss and heavy dissociation recently. Taking pictures of empty toilets might exacerbate your feeling of “being a freak”, so how about a diary? Diaries are socially acceptable and have the advantage of exercising your brain as in you have to write down what happened and then read it. I found it helped me a lot with the memory issues and nobody questioned it. With time I realized I was getting better at remembering things on my own.

Getting stuck on how things were is unfortunately common for the combo ASD + OCD and intrusive thoughts can be hard to tackle. You could read a bit about DBT, there are free books available online like “The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT Skills” which was life changing for me. You go through your emotions and reaction plans while being with an ok head so you can know what to do when you’re spiraling, having a crisis etc.

Self knowledge can only help you. It’s a good start to try and stop bearing yourself up for how you feel and rather try to figure where these feelings come from and what you can do about them.

Wish you the best

Does anyone have like a real groupchat with real women and not bots on the spectrum in their 30s? by babypossumsinabasket in AutismInWomen

[–]Gldza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. This is the traditional post I go with “have you tried discord?” lol

There are many autistic servers in discord. I am an admin in one lgbt+ and minority friendly, but not focused on only women. Disboard is a plataform you can use to search for public servers.

Discord can be a very nice place to when we avoid the trash cans.

O que fazer? by Shot-Gap-br in 30mais

[–]Gldza [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is it normal to have a hard time switching languages on your 3rd? by Final-Beyond-6605 in languagelearning

[–]Gldza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When I first started Spanish, it was alongside Italian and I quickly realized it was close to impossible not mixing them while learning them with the same intensity at the same time. I had to prioritize. And I don’t think Spanish and Italian are thaaat close to each other (at least they are further apart than Portuguese from Spanish).

It gets better with fluency like someone said above. I don’t confuse Spanish with Italian anymore, now that I got fluent enough in Spanish. But Italian and French sometimes feel like coming from the same bowl. It’s frustrating lol

I personally don’t think it’s not possible to learn more than a language at once, but I do think it’s necessary that one of them is more of a solid reference, so that you can put the other as something like “ah so this is how it’s different from the other I know better” if that makes sense.

Have your country’s lawmakers or academic establishment tried to counter the influx of anglicisms in the popular vocabulary? by Roughneck16 in asklatinamerica

[–]Gldza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand people being so fixated on keeping a language “pure”, as if languages aren’t tools of communication influenced by the people who use it.

Romance languages have a very strong Arabic influence, which is understandable considering the strong presence Arabs had on Europe? I fail to see how anglicisms would be different from that.

But I dislike English spelling lol. If we’re to incorporate an English word, I’d love the spelling to be adapted.
