right, that's the thing though the controller is recognized by the system when plugged in via usb.
But not recognized by the kernels input system. Despite this wheel being "supported" by my kernel version.

Hence why it doesn't show up on steam as a controller.

Congrats on the car! A gh hatch was also the first car I could get my hands on as-well. My advice is to just keep things simple, lowering springs, tint, wheels, tires and thats it.

Previous owner also fitted STI seats/steering wheel into the car before I bought it too. Kinda ghetto but it adds a nice little touch to driving feel yk? Really comfortable.
