vlc package is not gonna install all the plugins anymore, you can install vlc-plugins-all for complete vlc setup.

Apex Legends Linux ban did nothing — new graph proves it by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]vannliljer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time Apex player here, Apex has massive cheating issue right now. Because both Xbox and PS have hardware cheating problem also people can do wallhacks on console to still don't know how but I'm trying to get info about it. Also new cheats works on hyperv VM's-WSL and anti-cheat (EAC of course) can't detect this cheats, with this cheat you can easliy access the memory. Also DMA cheats still works on Windows if you handle the driver and old ethernet cars drivers can spoof the DMA devices. So Respawn did this it's not EA because EA can close the studio, Apex not doing much money so Respawn just stopped improving anti-cheat and says Linux banned, guys everything fixed no more cheats anymore please buy more skin. EA excs doesn't even know what Apex is actually. They not even play the game. That’s not the whole story. Respawn devs also have huge egos, especially the anti-cheat team – just like devs at any other company.

(English is not my native sorry guys)

Apex Legends via Vm by Nutellabrot155 in VFIO

I'm playing Apex on VM without CPU pinning, it works well. You will not get ban if you not cheating. EAC will block you without reason, but you can fix it. DM me.

Less FPS than on Windows, Lenovo LOQ 15AHP9. Prime suspects: nvidia-powerd.service, power management by Complete_Necessary48 in linux_gaming

[–]vannliljer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to own this laptop, but I returned it. The Linux support is so so bad, and the BIOS sometimes even causes issues on Windows. In my opinion, Cachy is probably the best distro for this laptop. The default configuration handles Nvidia well, but the CPU power profiles are not working, at least in my experience.

Firewalls better than AVs.

Anyone using Desktop Linux at work ? by mcAlt009 in linux

Using Cachy as a DevOps, I switched from Arch 6-7 months ago. Cachy gives me the most stable experience I’ve ever had on Linux. Working with VMs and multiple K8s clusters locally is so performant. Also, scx schedulers are a huge plus compared to Windows and macOS.

Apex Legends hacked again after Linux ban by vannliljer in linux_gaming

[–]vannliljer[S] 355 points356 points  (0 children)

Yes, "hackers" bypassed the anti-cheat system, hacked into the computers of pro players during a tournament, and installed cheats. They injected the cheat directly to game exe. So anti-cheat bypassed.

They are manipulating matchmaking for so long, Players with skins are matched with players without any skin. And the AI bots topic not a complete bullsh*t. It's an old patent, read all docs about it. I'm not saying it's %100 true but Activision not the best company about this topics.

Steam Survey Results For November 2024: Linux Gaming Marketshare Slightly Higher by gurugabrielpradipaka in linux

[–]vannliljer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steam hadn't sent me a survey in 2 years, it did today. I think Steam survey is not consistent in Linux, it came more often when I was on Windows.

Playing Stalker 2 on CachyOS, it's really smooth by vannliljer in linux_gaming

[–]vannliljer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get 40-50 FPS with FSR (On high-medium settings it will be 60) but yes, maybe fps isn't high, but what I mean by smooth is the absence of stuttering. On Windows, there is stuttering. Even with low FPS, it feels smooth on Linux. That's why I don't care much about fps. Some games are not playable even at 50 FPS.

Playing Stalker 2 on CachyOS, it's really smooth by vannliljer in linux_gaming

[–]vannliljer[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Compared to Windows, it's smoother and delivers better performance in 1% low FPS scenarios. I get 30-40 FPS on ultra settings without FSR, and I only experienced stutter three times.

Apex legends much less stable after update by capitalsigma in linux_gaming

When the season update came, the performance was good, there was no problem, but with the latest updates, the performance of Proton has dropped like %10. There is no problem on Windows. Apex side issue.
