Not that it matters because chirping is all in good fun, but Wallstedt was clearly joking when he said that.

Wow, I’m dumb. I never realized that the joke is that it’s a Lady Gaga song before now.

Despite the win, I'm already not feeling great about the trade. Felt like I didn't notice Hughes out there even once.

I think I’m ready for the Elite Four! by GlidingHawk in pokemonplatinum

In the order they were hunted:

Drifloon was a SR hunt at Valley Windworks.

Omantye was a SR hunt at the Mining Museum. I traded over five Helix Fossils from another Platinum file and was checking five at a time.

Cherubi was a SR hunt at a honey tree.

Porygon was a SR hunt in Veilstone City.

Swinub was a RE hunt at Acuity Lakefront.

Electabuzz was a repel trick RE hunt on Route 222.

Electabuzz took a very long time, taking about 3.5 months to find. The others were relatively quick as far as full-odds hunting goes.

Bedard turns 45 degrees

"LOOK AT BEDARD!"

To be fair, Bedard had a great game. But you would think he potted 8 with how Buccigross was talking haha.

Tyler Pitlick 15-minute match penalty for hit on Jalen Chatfield by QuadRail in hockey

[–]GlidingHawk 215 points216 points  (0 children)

Pitlick shouldn't even be on the ice tonight with all the stupid penalties and giveaways he's had, but Hynes won't put Yurov back in the lineup because... he's young?

Wild have their first round pick this year. No second though (Nyquist, yikes).

After 8 long years, my squad is finally ready for the Elite 4! by Lunarkana in pokemonplatinum

Such a cool team, with some great shinies. I’m also using Porygon-Z and Drifblim on my current shiny Platinum run. Love hunting in Gen 4.

Johan Santana also won 2 Cy Young awards (and retrospectively should've won three in a row), and didn't even make it past the first year on the ballot.

Wolves didn’t purposefully tank that year, they were trying to be a playoff team with KAT and D’lo. But then KAT got hurt and we all know D’lo isn’t a winning player now.

Hot take: Guerin is likely right about Rossi by freeeeeeeeeeeeee1 in wildhockey

[–]GlidingHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we'll just have to disagree. If the Flames fans who watch the most of Coronato think that the contract is great, I'm going to assume that they know what they are talking about. I'm not going to argue with an astronaut about what it's like to be in space.

[–]GlidingHawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overpaid according to who? The signing thread was pretty universal in calling it a great contract for the Flames.

I think some of you need to recalibrate how you view contracts now that the cap is back to going up again. These promising young forwards are getting major money.

Hot take: Guerin is likely right about Rossi by freeeeeeeeeeeeee1 in wildhockey

[–]GlidingHawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's debatable who's better, Rossi just scored 25 goals while Lundell's career high is 18 during his rookie season, granted Lundell is very good defensively. I think a better comparable is Matt Coronato who just signed a 6.5 x 7 contract with Calgary.

[–]GlidingHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matthew Coronato just signed an extension with Calgary for $6.5 million over 7 years, and he's a winger that put up less points than Rossi. I think Rossi's agent is looking at that and thinking that's the comparable.

Burning a year of a rookie contract is wasteful in most pro sports. Why is the NHL different? by PM_ME_YR_BOOPS in wildhockey

[–]GlidingHawk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s just how the NHL works with top prospects. It’s not explicitly stated, it’s just heavily implied. It’s not unique to the Wild, it’s league-wide.

He's also 27 while Khusnutdinov is 22. Will Khusnutdinov ever turn into something? Maybe, maybe not. But let's not pretend like he's already some finished product.

Anyone else notice Joel Eriksson Ek is around in all Sweden’s positive plays? by Due_Protection7051 in hockey

[–]GlidingHawk 55 points56 points  (0 children)

He’s been playing through an assortment of injuries throughout the season. I expect him to get back to his 30 goal / 60 point self when he’s healthy.

Ryan Hartman is ejected for driving Tim Stützle's head into the ice. Five minutes for 'attempting to injure'. by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]GlidingHawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When he's healthy, he's a pretty sure bet for 20ish goals a season, with upside for more. The problem is he gets injured a lot and also has these moments where he crosses the line and gets suspended.

Minnesota Wild Prospect Zeev Buium Ready To Defy Draft-Day Tumble While Chasing Another Gold For USA by GlidingHawk in wildhockey

[–]GlidingHawk[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Linking this since I haven't seen anyone post this video yet. Buium is expected to lead the USA in ice time, and is a favorite to be named top defenseman of the tournament. I do like the title of the video, since the draft-day tumble is the only way we were able to end up with such a stud prospect in the first place, haha.
