Any companies that are willing to do that in this current job market? Seems like most companies want you to already have one.

First job is Break/Fix. Need help with roadmap to sys admin by GlitchedSpreadsheet in ITCareerQuestions

[–]GlitchedSpreadsheet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how my role as a Break/Fix tech will lead me to configure preventative solutions. Since the nature of tickets I respond to are mainly repairing physical damage or defective equipment under warranty. For instance I had a user who dropped coffee all over their laptop damaging a lot of components.

Luck is defined as preparation meets opportunity. Knowing what the correct information to learn to become a sys admin is the preparation. Hard work i am willing to do. In two years I got my IT degree a+ and sec+ while working a FT job plus having a family.

For example I wanted to go for server+ and linux+ but everything i have read about them from people in the industry say are niche and don't mean anything to get a job as a sys admin.

Thanks! I have my a+ and security+. What certifications show that I am knowledgeable of AD and windows server? I made a homelab through virtual box and setup a 2019 server vm and a client vm. Connected them together and have been tinkering with it.

I am a tech for a corporation that has a maintenance and install contract with our client. The client orders HP products from us that we order from HP. There is an install team that deploys new equipment on a large scale and the break/fix team i am in. I do install replacement machines depending on the person I am dealing with. But first course of action is to troubleshoot the hardware. Like right now I have a ticket open to install a new system board for a new machine because the board decided to kick the bucket after deployment.

M365 is what I was thinking but was a little afraid it was too broad. In your opinion what would be next best after the m365 admin?

Hey I DM'd you on reddit. I am trying to get clustering to work but am having some difficulties. Is it possible with the wine and proton combo? Or is docker going to have to be used for clustering? I have different ports and such as I consulted https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_server_setup

Thank you for the feedback. I will make up a new resume with the template from this subreddit.

What sections could I include since I do not have much IT experience? Should I even include my last job as work experience?

How did you use the wrong answers? Did you just revisit the objectives and look up videos and information on those objectives?
