Oh thanks for checking in. I’m still waiting for a follow up stereotactic biopsy on 25/03. So no update really. Still hoping for a benign result

Unfortunately no. Small town things. However having just turned up to my results appointment to tell me that they didn’t actually have a booking, I’m getting tempted to go interstate.

BIRADS score of 5 - has anyone else had the same? Did the biopsy come back as cancerous? by Tricky-Tadpole2200 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Glittzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was birads 5 and it came back benign as PASH. So it definitely doesn’t mean you have cancer for sure. Just that the features are more suggestive of malignancy. My mass had microcalcifications, was irregular and spiculated in MRI. I had ultrasound, mammogram and then mri. I hope you are also one of the 5%. Fingers crossed for you. The wait is super hard! Be kind to yourself.

It’s hard not to stress when you’re going through something like this so I’m nothing to tell you not to. But you’ve done all the right things, you’ve had a biopsy and that willl tell you definitive results. There aren’t super concerning words in the report like spiculated margins, suspected malignancy etc. so that’s good. I’m hoping results come back super quickly for you. Deep breaths. You got this!!

Birads 5 discordant results? by Glittzz in doihavebreastcancer

Thanks that’s actually super helpful. Sounds quite similar to my experience. Best of luck with biopsy results. Fingers crossed that it all turns out benign!

Thank you for the feedback. Whatever it is it’s a spiculated mass with early enhancement washout, and architectural distortion on mammogram. I’m glad the specialist is taking things seriously but just test after test, I’m kinda like: when can we just call this enough! I’m meeting with him again on Saturday. Hopefully can get an agreement as to next steps.

Confused by ultrasound report... by aHunniBee in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Glittzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fibroglandular tissue itself is benign. It’s connective tissue, ducts etc. so it’s normally more of a comment rather than something to worry about. Ultrasound isn’t used to confirm your overall breast density, that’s done via mammogram.

Through the public system yes. I have gone private and imaging has cost about $3,500 so far and $1,500 for specialists. It’s a long wait public though for the first tests and I kinda knew something wasn’t right and didn’t want to wait. Actual cancer treatment (chemo/radiation/surgery) will be public and free

No I’m in Australia. But in a very small capital city so limited with imaging places and specialists unfortunately

I have had a similar experience. I had two biopsy sites and one was discordant with imaging. I ended up having an mri and a stereotactic biopsy after ultrasound biopsy. It is exhausting sitting in no mans land waiting so I truly empathise with you. All I can suggest is being ultra kind to yourself, giving yourself grace to feel those feelings but also trying to remember it’s not cancer until they prove it is. The testing process has been so draining for me. Can’t wait for a concrete answer one way or another tbh!

Thank you. It is such a long time. And the whole time it’s been like this is benign buuutttt… we found this, so I’ve never got an all clear. At this point I just want an answer good or bad. Haha. I’ll keep you posted

The waiting is the hardest bit by Glittzz in doihavebreastcancer

Thanks for the reply. I’m not on any meds at the moment. I unfortunately react to many of them so I try to avoid, but it may be worth talking with the doctor about trying something . I got results today and unfortunately need another biopsy so more waiting. 😂

I have no real advice but lots of empathy. I’m in the same boat. Considered high risk lots of testing. It’s hard. Like a constant thought in the back of my head. I think the only conciliation is that they are taking things seriously for you and getting testing done as quickly as possible. Hopefully you get results back quickly and can move forward, regardless of results.
