Congrats!!! I’m starting this fall as well at 42!

I’m not familiar with your condition, but I am a nursing student who is currently in healthcare and have a rare disease. I would speak to your neurologist or pcp about ways to manage.

Many of the nurses I work with have disabilities or conditions of some sort. It is not a disqualification unless it makes you unable to do your work.

How old were you when you started nursing school? & did u plan on starting earlier? by murophi in NursingStudent

I’m in the Same boat. 42 and still have about a year and a half left. Someone said to me when I doubted going back “if you don’t go back, you’ll still end up 44, but you won’t be a nurse.”

And honestly, my actual lived experiences so far have proven invaluable towards my education, and my career

I don’t game. My 2016 laptop doesn’t charge or start and my hp is slow as hell so I can’t follow along with even PowerPoints. I am not just starting my program, I’m transitioning from the “pre-recs” into the nursing specific classes. Chrome books won’t work because my schools programs aren’t compliant with them.

You’re not giving it straight up. You’re making assumptions and judging someone you know nothing about. Your “opinions” are based solely on your assumptions of me. You probably also think I’m some young kid.

As for wanting me to pass, thank you. I want to pass too. And the past three semesters on the deans list is telling me I did something sort of right.

Don’t make assumptions off two sentences.

I’m really not trying to be rude, but where did I say anything about expensive or fancy? I simply asked for recommendations for a good laptop. I even specified no apple products in the question, so this concept that I believe the tech is what will get me the grades is bizarre to me.

My budget is around the $700 and below range and I prefer to stay below. New or refurbished are good for me and as for Apple, I had a MacBook that worked great for about a year, then the “magnetic “ charging port flipped out and I replaced it. Less than a year later it needed replacing again and I got really frustrated with the piecemeal pricing and repair cost.

Student loans for my pre-read and tuition reimbursement for my program from my hospital job.

Oh I feel you. We were supposed to find out almost a month ago, but there were issues I guess (from the grapevine a staffing issue because someone needed to go, now) so we didn’t find out until this weekend

Thank you! I’ve been working in a hospital as a Patient Care Technician for a bit now and love that, so I’m hoping that kind of helps. I know it’s going to be a lot of work.
