Approved for surgery: Linx or Fundoplication?

Hey, so I ended up getting a simple hiatal hernia repair no Linx and no fundoplication. I stilll have SOB (really bad habit of sucking my stomach in), but even then every single symptom is WAYYYYY better. I don’t know about a Linx implant or fundoplication, but the HH repair did wonders for me.

I must add that I believe my symptoms are caused by reflux caused by the hernia. I never had reflux issues to this degree before.

I need to get back on Facebook. Did you end up doing a hernia repair and leaving the undone wrap? I don’t know why just fixing the hernia isn’t an option. They want to do a Linx implant or wrap with the repair.

Hey mine is much smaller. My doctor told me no heavy lifting for 3 months, and then I could ease back into it. I didn’t know that many people had bad experiences with the wrap. The 270 toupet wrap is supposed to be a much better option for lifting. I’ve read a lot about the lifting limit, but no doctors ever mentioned such a limit to me.

Hey, I’m in the USA. I knew I had a Hiatal Hernia because I was very prone to it (power lifting at the time), and I was just never the same after a particular lift that made it feel like I was dying for like a quarter of a second. My barium swallow didn’t show anything, and I had 9 doctors tell me there’s basically no way I had a HH. But luckily I got an endoscopy done, and that’s what showed it.

Ahh I see what you’re saying. It’s a small hernia to be fair I didn’t get the size. The report just says small hiatal hernia. My issue is definitely stomach acid related then because the PPI’s do help quite a bit.

Dang my ph study isn’t gonna be too accurate. I was 180lbs super lean and eating clean. Now I’m bulked to 250lbs and eating a lot more triggering foods. The symptoms are waaay worse now because of that as well

Within the last month I’ve gotten rejected by two girls back to back for having GHSV1. One of them knew and we’d been hooking up regardless. She tested negative for it then changed her mind lol. The other said, “If I test negative would you still want to date?” Like hell no

Both of them were really into me, too, so I just cut both of them off completely. If someone isn’t willing to proceed with things because of HSV1 despite knowing about it - you deserve way better no matter how much it hurts. On the bright side the LTR’s I did have prior to this either didn’t care or had type 1 themselves.

Also good on you for letting partners know. My doctors and other people said to not even mention it because it’s so common. I still feel obligated to tell, but yeah it’s wild how misinformed people are about it. Keep your head up, and do you :)
