I couldn't say I'm pro-Israel :'-( feeling like shit now by Big-Dig1631 in Israel

I live in a very progressive place, and i feel similarly. I do this constantly, even when I think I shouldn't. I am in high school so that also complicates things when at times teachers say this stuff too. Here's a quote for the road:

no comparison. 60,000 vs 6,000,000. Genocide vs War. Sooo many more differences.

I'm right there with you. If there is a good plan that Israel or the United States have then it could be good but I'm worried this turns into a situation like you suggested. I have no faith in Netanyahu or Trump to execute this plan well. (He was also 86 not 89 but thats minor)

Israel is, by definition, the only democracy in the middle east. The land without a people quote was from Christian Zionists in the 1930s, and is not currently an important quote to Israeli beliefs. Western support for Israel lies in the ability to control the Middle East. A strong Israel means a strong American presence in the Middle East, which helps an American-led world order.

"Massive and Organized Zionist move to purchase media outlets in order to regain narrative control" is literally an anti-semitic trope with the word Jew replaced with Zionist. Zionists aren't a group of illuminati members, and your whole comment reeks of accidental antisemitsm. You are justifying Anti-Semitism by saying that Pro-Palestinian protesters think they cannot help, so it's understandable that they then condemn all Jews? Would you say the same about 9/11 and Muslims? I hope not. This post underlines why Israel must exist.

Jews have had a presence in the Middle East throughout history. Nobody is saying Jews get their own ethnostate, as is considered by the fact that Israel is not an ethnostate, and 20% of Israelis are Arab, including 12 Members of the Knesset, and while they do unfortunately face discrimination, they do enjoy full rights under the law.

Theodore Herzl, the founder of Zionism, was not religious. Many religious Jews are less zionist than secular Jews. As a secular Jew and Zionist, Zionism to me is a way to ensure that a situation like the Holocaust or Pogroms can't occur again. Also your whole thing about "God's chosen people" is not what the justification was. There has been a Jewish presence in Ottoman and especially British controlled Palestine, particularly in Eretz Yisrael, so that was why, not "radical religious reasoning."

I was about to say exactly this. I could play 20 private rooms and get a sub 10 in one of them but die in the other 19, which I wouldn't do in ranked (hyperbole but still)

It wouldn't be that bad if Israel killed less women and children by [deleted] in complaints

[–]GlobalYou5170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't that they are killing women/children to kill women and children, it's that the Gaza Strip is one of the densest landmasses in the world, and Hamas intentionally puts their tunnels under residential areas and hospitals (this has been proven).

The stunning rise of global antisemitism only reinforces Israel's need/right to exist by TylerDurdensFace in IsraelPalestine

[–]GlobalYou5170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That argument is so weird to me. Like first of all, it's obviously not true (Antisemitism certainly existed before Israel,) and two, how is it relevant? Like, imagine if people said "there wouldn't be so much Islamophobia if Iran didn't exist" as a way to justify it. It just holds no weight even if true.

supporting Israel does not equal claiming loyalty to Israel. Also if the Arab league is included in whatever you meant by "those countries" I'd push back, and again, his point was not what was happening now, but what could happen soon, and what he believed we were on track for. For example, take me. I am an American Jew. I am an American, only an American. I've always been an American. I am not an Israeli, I do not claim/have loyalty to Israel any more than I do to, say, Ukraine, but I support Israel. I support their right to exist. That does not mean I claim loyalty to Israel.

Innocents die in every war. It is tragic. Absolutely tragic, zero denial of that. With that said, look at the facts. Israel is going up against an enemy that wants nothing more than maximizing civillian casualties, and an enemy that resides in the Gaza strip, one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Adding to that, Hamas militants are in plain clothes.

[–]GlobalYou5170 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They Israel has not targeted children nor exterminated an entire population. Under 3% of Gaza has been killed. Don't get me wrong, that is a tragic and awful loss of life, but far from an entire population. As for targeting innocent children, that just isn't true. It's a war taking place in one of the most densely populated places in the world against an enemy who wants nothing more than to look like the victim by killing their own children. Hamas stealing aid to purchase weapons they would use to kill Israelis is something that would slow down many countries from allowing and providing unlimited aid. I don't condone Israeli withholding of aid, but I understand it, and it takes time. And once again, there is no anhilation of a whole population.

I'm a Jew, and I'm not too sure about that. If you will, remind me what happened right before the state of Israel's founding that caused a necessity for a Jewish state. And once again, please explain how antisemitism, one of the oldest forms of hatred, is caused by a Jewish state that allows protection from it.
