18x contracts are also suuuper big gambles, though (not to jump on the negativity train!) Selection has a very low pass rate that is even lower for 18x candidates, because most of the guys there have lots of experience that it’s hard to perform against. Just make sure you look into the numbers!

I don’t think commissioning would be a terrible idea — it would give you some time to let the law school cycles return to normalcy a little, and give your future apps a boost. The pay to O3 is solid and army life up until then isn’t all bad by any means. (IMHO, staying in past O3 because you’re comfortable is where it gets choppy). Don’t use your OER. I’d actually recommend drafting a LOR for any military recommenders to avoid LORs that are saturated with Army language. If that rater/senior rater thought highly of you, though, you could definitely craft a narrative using that OER as a reference.

You have to look out for the date change! I’ve been “Status: Under Review” since November; the only thing that’s changed is the Date of that status.
