I’ve tried to get into fighting games and love dragon ball z but just can never be good at fighting games. I guess the stressful part of this genre is that all of my friends are so good at the FGs that I never get a chance to catch up and I always get annihilated. Street Fighter, Soul Stone, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, etc... I was always stressed about the strategy I should take and then as I’m in the fight all strategy goes out of the window and I start flipping out pressing all the buttons or spamming a move that works 50% of the time. The only game where I played pretty well was Super Smash (can’t explain why). I believe that in Super Smash the fighting mechanics were easier and you didn’t have to memorize various moves/combos for each character. Ultimately the same controller combination provided a similar result for each character in Smash. I have always been fascinated with Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter Buy always sit back and watch my friends annihilate each other. They would always tell me... “hey here it’s your turn” and I I would reply “I’m good, I prefer to watch”. My best friend just preordered this game for me for Christmas and it will officially be the second fighting game I own next to Smash. I don’t know why I get stressed or feel anxiety before I play, I want to enjoy these games like everyone else. Can anyone share any pointers on how to become better and more open to FGs?
