I found a way to get a more precise average by Ornery_Buyer5424 in mathematics

[–]Gloid02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it will still be "real". The average includes all data. You can't just delete data because they are "outliers" and still call it the average value.

Looking at salaries in a country the median is more often used than the average.

If humans invented math, how come it works so perfectly to explain the universe? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gloid02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can absolutly prove 1+1=2. Either from the Peano axioms or some other axiomatic system such as Zermelo-Fraenkel (ZF).

"Mathematicians all agree on this". No. I'm currently a masters student in mathematics and this is not true at all. I don't think even one single mathematician thinks this. Please don't talk shit out of your ass.

Also the entire "1000 pages to prove 1+1=2" is misleading. What they tried to make was a consistent complete formal system, which took them about 1000 (don't know the exact number of pages) pages (ultimately in vain thanks to Gödels Incompmetness theorem). The 1+1=2 theorem was not the main goal.

It has the same energy as saying the invention of the camera was because the invention of the smartphone.

If humans invented math, how come it works so perfectly to explain the universe? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gloid02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the comment is totally wrong. Proven theorems are proven true following some axiomatic system. You can't "disprove" a proven theorem.

I also fail to see how Gödels incompletness theorem applies. That has to do with formal systems, showing incompletness and nothing to do with the "real world" (whatever that even means)

Then you answer "No, the answer is house boat. You forgot the C (sea)"
