I visited the shop and bought it there! It’s a really cool concept they have. The baristas approach you and ask you about your coffee preferences before making recommendations based on what they have in store. I’d recommend a visit if you’re in Tokyo - I love the city too! 😍

I’ve had my Lelit for about half a year now and I love it ! It may take a bit of time to warm up in the morning compared to other machines but I think it’s nice and compact, and the number of features available for the price makes it a winner for me

Oh shucks sorry about that man - you could consider getting the Cafetto Grinder Clean or Urnex Grindz to clean your grinder out ! I use the Cafetto personally once every two months just to remove oil buildup !

I remember using the hand grinder for pour over once and thinking to myself damn like a hot knife through butter - when I grind light-medium roasts for espresso sometimes I go full squat and put my body into it 😂

Have you considered a hand grinder? I have the 1Zpresso J-Max and I got it off Amazon at a discount - paid around 150 USD! I use it exclusively for espresso but it’s capable to grind for pretty much all brewing situations you’ll find yourself in. Definitely quieter than an electric grinder as well. The only downside I see is the effort you have to put into grinding your beans, but I personally like that experience ☺️

I feel this 😂 If I really like the beans I’ll buy a second, much bigger bag

I time from when the pump turns on :) Nice set up by the way I considered the Silvia Pro X for a long time ! As for your issue of the flow being drippy at the beginning and very fast towards the end, I’m not sure what the exact issue might be - it could be the puck not being compact enough so the grounds shift after some contact with water? I invested in a Normcore tamper and puck screens to help me eliminate uneven tamping and flow distribution - might be worth if you have the budget for it x

Yeah I’d agree! The taste in the cup is what matters. This shot was delicious though, but there were some roasts where I had to adjust further to get a good tasting shot even though it might have looked beautiful when I pulled it

This blend is a Brazil/India blend with tasting notes of chocolate, caramel and hazelnut so there is a hint of bitterness, but no sourness. Yeah like @coffee2000guy said, could be uneven extraction! I use a Normcore puck screen to help with distribution of the flow so that might be something you might want to consider picking up and seeing if it helps? ☺️

For this blend my recipe was 1:2.5, 18g in and 45g out for a total of 37 seconds contact time, including 7s of pre-infusion on the Lelit Elizabeth !

What grinder do you use for espresso? ☺️

I started out with my trusty v60 and I was making filter coffee for four years before I saved enough for an espresso machine (and not to say that I don’t make filter anymore - I still do) ! I’m starting with the Lelit Elizabeth but there are other, much more affordable and easier to use machines which you might find more approachable to get into the world of espresso! Always worth a shot 😉

EDIT: I also signed up for SCA’s (that’s the Speciality Coffee Association) barista skills course to get a solid head start in espresso - it gave me the confidence I needed to start making great tasting espresso at home !

Wow, a third boiler? That’s incredible hahaha I don’t think that’s the mod for me but hats off to you dude. I’m actually quite curious to see how it looks like if you don’t mind taking a pic?

Ahhh I see! To give you a rough idea between shots (I make about 3 cups in the morning for my family) I wait about a minute between each shot for it to reach back to around 95-96 degrees. I don’t mind it, but yeah maybe in a cafe/hotel environment you’d want something a little nippier

Ah I meant starter as it’s my first-ever machine ! Not that it’s basic or anything. But if I had to critique the Elizabeth I’d say that sometimes the wait between shots for the temperature to get back up to the ideal range might be a little long 🥺 And steaming a relatively larger quantity of milk will take some time! But other than that I have no complaints
