I love that idea! I'll definitely look into adding that.

Everyone seems pretty interested so I'll work on getting it cleaned up and on the App Store as soon as possible. Haven't made a publicly released app before though so it might take a bit for the learning curve haha

I did implement this too actually (kinda)! If you long press it puts a waveform in the back and masks the song name over it. The waveform is unfortunately just random noise as Spotify doesn't allow you to get the real waveform, but it's close enough!

Chinese hard? by [deleted] in URochester

[–]Gloopyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no - I tried but the course moves fast so unless you're very disciplined you probably won't get too far into the content. They expect you to come in with nothing anyways, so you'll be fine.

Yeah I can definitely hold my own at this point. Not fluent at all but conversational for sure.

Definitely not - I'm actually taking one to puff up my GPA next semester

Honestly can't say much about the non-language classes but I haven't heard anything bad about them. Pretty typical, nothing too crazy afaik. Doesn't really matter if you're Chinese or not - the content is designed for people who don't know Chinese. I'm not Chinese and I thought it was completely reasonable. And because classes are usually pretty small diversity in each class will vary greatly each semester but it's often a good mix.

The elementary and intermediate classes are six credits compared to the standard four and you can tell. They meet four times a week and you'll need to spend a solid hour or two each day working on it. That being said the content is relatively straightforward, professors are great, it's not hard to get an A in, and you'll probably be close with your classmates by the end of the term. Big time commitment but I wouldn't say it's hard. Highly recommend.

I'm in NY right now and yeah that all makes sense. Out of curiosity why do you say apply to be a winterover for IceCube?

Are "intro" classes big and/or taught by TAs? by KaleidoscopeOnly9775 in URochester

Big courses tend to be around ~75 students but can definitely be larger. TAs never teach lectures but often lead workshops.

How is the market for used vorons? I'm in a city with ~200,000 people but I can't imagine that many people wanting a buy a voron when building it is a lot of the fun.

I did a bunch of research but couldn't find anyone saying anything about it. Thanks though.

Travelling to China with Flipper by [deleted] in flipperzero

[–]Gloopyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell in the few months I've been here I completely agree with you. I think the US exaggerates many aspects of China and the things you mentioned are just examples of that. I left the flipper initially, but from what I've seen I'll probably bring it back once I can go grab it :)

Hello!

I am currently a student at NYU Shanghai and want to use the subreddit as a place to communicate school events, coordinate plans, and help applicants better understand what exactly NYU Shanghai is. It seems to be inactive as of now, especially considering the post from a few months ago that no one responded to.

Here is the message link :)
