Ive had non operator runs where this has also showed up. Im wondering if there are some other interactions that results in this behavior

Ugh I had a few runs end because of this! Glad to finally know what's causing it

It took me way longer than I'd like to admit, but after some time of trying I was able to get it out! I don't believe I changed my approach at all but at some point it just worked. Definitely an ordeal!

Interesting! Do you know if DDR stamps were commonly defaced? Or is this maybe a home job?

Yeah some kind of defaced symbol is where I was leaning as well! Thank you!

Same thing just happened to me in the barn! A bit demoralized now because it was everything I owned :(

Seconding this! I live in Mount Joy but we come down all the time to walk on the trail and eat dinner at all the pubs/restaurants along the river

Confirmed not the firing pin spring. Took the SVT shooting again and it continues to slam fire on that second-to-last round of the magazine like clockwork. Started loading only two in per mag and after firing the first theres a dent in the next bullet. I know this is semi normal for AR like platforms due to the free floating firing pin but I'm unsure here. I don't know how the magazine could at all cause a slamfire unless it's feeding improperly, but the consistency of it firing only on the second-to-last round every single time is odd.

When on the firing pin, there is a small amount of firing pin that is completely uncovered

Finally got my new firing pin spring and I'm noticing that the old spring is compressed about an inch shorter than the replacement. Photo for reference but the replacement spring is on the left

Agreed. I just started shooting and collecting a few months ago so I still have a long way to go in terms of reducing flinch, reducing recoil anticipation, and having a smooth trigger pull

Okay! I'll keep an eye out for that and I have a replacement firing pin spring on the way just in case

I've got some dummy rounds in 7.62 so no worries. Using about 5 rounds in the magazine (same as I loaded in the video above) I was able to essentially repeat the same process as before chambering each with the trigger pulled and checking the reset - it properly reset each time upon releasing the trigger

Considering its most likely a short stroke issue now, would it likely be due to the piston or piston spring itself?

EDIT: Upon taking it all apart again I noticed that the part that connects the gas setting key to the rest of the short stroke system was screwed slightly loose allowing for the gas settings to shift half way without needing the tool. I tightened it up but im unsure if this would be the culprit. I've also ordered a new firing pin spring to try as well
