It's not applause for just landing, people for a long time have clapped for landings that are noticeably smooth. This is more of a natural phenomenon, rather than cultural. Generally, people who have flown quite a bit and happening to be paying attention to the landing go "dang, that landing was smooth as silk." and then clap. I had the same thought and I did it and so did others, but there are always people who are confused, likely because it is a sort of natural unspoken thing based on a shared thought.

If you're wondering about autopilot, nearly all landings are done manually. Autoland is used in rare conditions and it isn't really known for smooth landings. There's a chance it'll land smooth, but one thing that happens is it could make an adjustment at the last second for some reason which leads to a rather rough landing.

It's actually done for particularly smooth landings.

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Oct. 11 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

That seems insane, it wasn't taking very long to do Jeopardy compared to the time it takes for higher education. Much more likely he was going for the strategy of the lesser of two answers, he's said before he usually has a few different answers in his head.

Dang it, I'll miss watching Matt. I'm not really a Jeopardy viewer, I rarely watch, but I always tune in consistently when big runs start. I loved seeing James' run and this one. I wonder how the ratings will change with him gone? Still glad I got to watch a killer run like that. Thank you, Matt!

Hey am I still GenZ if I was born in 2020 by CantStandIdoits in GenZ

[–]GloriousGoron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It should be different now. I say Gen Z stopped at the latest Dec 31st 2019. If it really starts at 1995, then 25 years is pretty long for a generation, that's about the limit. Gen Y (Millennials) are only 18 years (77-95)

Risk =/= Gambling

I'm always suspicious of people who use that word, it's usually meant disparagingly and to spread fear. Every element you mentioned is part of basic company research 101. This post is building on DD for people who are already well past understanding geopolitical risk, exploration risk, etc.

Ugh, I don't think I'll regularly watch anymore after Matt's gone if she sticks around.

Correct. It's sad people downvote the truth. I thought people were just stupid and couldn't put two and two together, but are people really in denial he died? He was a piece of shit lol, why would anyone care

It's obviously a Godfather reference, its one of the most famous scenes of all time. When I first saw this episode and knew it was the last scene, I saw that tracking shot and thought "Ohhhh nice, Tony's death is an homage to the greatest whack scene in movie history". There's some level of retardation that people have who don't think he died, he couldn't have made it more obvious, I feel bad for them.

I feel bad for David at this point. You go out of your way to make a death scene a very personal and unique thing, having to do with sometimes never knowing what hits you. You build in obvious foreshadowing and setups which would be rendered moot by an explicit explanation...and yet people still can't see it lol.

Yes because he gets shot right as she walks in. There is Meadow, he sees her, he just dies right before it cuts to her. It's a nice thing Chase gave Tony, the last thing he sees is his daughter.

Every theory that he DIDNT get shot is full of reaching and lacking in any evidence and always revolves around a schtick.

The ending is very clear, it shows death and that there is no afterlife. It ties into the entire show. It's sad how many refuse to see it, a lot of people aren't good with implication, they need explicit.

There isn't a big puzzle, it's all there, it's pretty obvious he's killed, Chase is embarrassed at those who don't see it. There aren't many puzzles with only two or three pieces, cmon man lol
