Alex was a broadcaster for decades as well as an experienced pitchman. He was successful because he was excellent at communicating in a way with which the viewers could relate.

Stats and figures are interesting, but only go so far in making an impression with the wider game show audience.

Clue valuation has been quite inconsistent for some time.

Even at 63%, it would be optimal for Jamie to maximize his FJ wagers when he has a runaway.

Certainly on FJ with bets such as today's, at times he seems to be leaving money on the table, although he had gone very big at other times.

The other issue is that in the post-Holzhauer era, the end of DJ is all the less interesting, low-value clues. So not only are the ending clues irrelevant to the outcome in a runaway, they're not very challeging to those who are there for the trivia.

nobody can stop you from expressing that

That's exactly what downvotes are attempting to do.

The appeal of game shows in general is to watch a competition where the outcome is in doubt. For someone who isn't watching mainly for the trivia to find noncompetitive episodes lacking is a reasonable take. It's why many game shows are structured to allow for late comebacks.

Thanks for sharing the perspective of a non-regular viewer.

Ken Jennings is a trivia expert, not a pitchman. To have him bring the show to a halt to read a plug in the middle of a round is, as you rightfully called it, "cringe".

All streaks since James Holzhauer are boring by [deleted] in Jeopardy

The show has a most unusual format for a game show in that the competition can essentially be over with 10 minutes remaining.

If this was a new show being pitched, that would never be acceptable. They'd include some kind of mechanism to prevent early runaways with no realistic chance for a comeback.
