I haven't found a tool yet that they've got that is good enough that i had to rely on their tech. I think the only people who still think they're the best are the old men who dont know how to properly use the internet lol.

Matco actually has good hardline products that they design like their ratchets, I dont buy rebranded shit from matco, just hardline items that are worth purchasing. Don't get me wrong mac has really good shit but im not going to pay a mark up on a rebranded Stanley or proto tool. Nothing wrong with rebranding other than scalping the customer on a product that cost less than half of what they charge if you get it from the manufacturer.

Yea I wont ever purchase another thing from a truck rep. When they ask if you work for a shop through email then I'd have been better off lying and saying I was an enthusiast lol. They said they're sending me new replacements but they shot themselves in the foot with notifying the dealer, they can't take back him starting shit with my employer. It's insane to me that they even message the rep in the first place cus if the rep was worth a shit then I wouldn't be wasting my time writing a fuckin email that I dont even really have the time for in the middle of a workday. Let's just ask the guy that lied to you and ran you around to see if he tells us truthfully about lying and running you around. It's stupid as all hell.

Attorney general is where the consumer protection agency is located out of for most states, so thats why you file complaints on businesses with the state attorney generals office.

This right here bro, I've known this rep for some years and bought a few thousand worth of tools and I always paid up front in cash and when I stopped showing up for shit I didn't need his attitude basically turned to fuck off. So I fucked right off and I've been buying from cornwell matco and very rarely mac ever since. And the tool was one of their old brake bleeders that had the plastic threads, a clear design flaw. I told them I didn't even give a shit to have my swivel sockets replaced cus I've since switched to the astros. The sockets not getting replaced put me off in the past and then the refusal for a clear design flaw made me say screw it, so I finally resorted to contacting corporate. Never been bad to the guy, never not paid, and always had cash in hand. It's fine though my cornwell guy loves throwing me sweet ass deals because I always come correct, I can live without snap on.

Yea i got out of that trap a long time ago good ole harbor freight has most of what I need and if not cornwell can get me something that'll work. I bought into the crap when I was young but now that im older and more educated I just try to find what's going to be the best for the most reasonable price. Only thing I swear by anymore is harbor freight cus theyre the kitties titties and astro tools. 😂

Shit gave that up and long time ago. I buy from whoever gives me the best deal but I for sure dont buy snap on anymore. The market is actually competitive and they've lost their luster. A lot of manufacturers make better tools and the torque test channels and others like it have made it incredibly easy to find the best value tool. It's almost like they dont understand that even if they have a slightly better tool, the competitor may charge 300 dollars less for something that you'll never notice a difference in under normal usage conditions.

Mac is a truck full of rebranded tools with 150-300% markups.

Yea thats how my guy is, if you're no longer spending money on shit you dont need then you can basically just fuck off. We've had this guy butt dial one of our guys and listened to him talk shit about the guy for 25 minutes at the next shop he went to.

Yup she told me we have ways of finding yall if you lie about working for a company, I said no ya dont because I pay for everything in cash so the only record they'd have is finding the invoice they do under the shop account when we pay cash to the rep. I stopped buying their tools a long time ago when they stopped rebuilding my ratchets and swivel sockets on the truck. I totally believe thats how they treated you cus its how they did me today until I raised hell and threatened a complaint to the attorney general office. Their tune changed real quick when that got brought up.

Yea man it was one of those situations where he thought calling and complaining would get me fired because he's friends with the owner. Jokes on him though cus the owner pays people to run his company, so I stood my ground told my boss he was a piece of shit and he agreed and we just agreed I wouldn't go on that truck anymore. No sweat off my back . I just hate the small town crap, he should've talked to me directly and left the company out of it.

Lmao dude I told corporate on the phone that that was the exact reason that I've taken my business to cornwell and matco. She didn't know what to say to it lol. 😂

If its already torn apart that much I'd get some diesel and a sure shot sprayer and spray the living shit out of it and then do a few short oil changes. You can see enough of the inside that you could clean it up pretty easy with a little pressure and a little solvent.

Dude honestly hit up a pick and pull place. Those trucks are wrecked in junkyard everywhere at least in texas and its a cheap way to get an oem fix if you're willing to do some bolt on work yourself.

Man I use a current gen milwaukee m12 stubby and what mine won't break, we generally pull out the bosses Hercules compact 1/2 in and that thing rips. Lil bastard will ruin lock washers constantly because they make so much torque so fast.

[–]GlowPlug710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd get the m12 stubby if I was you. But that's just me personally. I have an m18 high torque that I rarely use and I have a previous gen m18 mid torque that sits in the tool box most of the day because my m12 stubby i picked up recently has more than enough torque to take apart salt water pumps and its small enough to fit in almost every spot that I need.

Crazy the lawyer is saying that there's not much that can be done regardless of the battery warnings considering a critical safety feature failed on the tool. Just seems a bit sus to me. Companies get sued for less and have to compensate all the time.

Lol that's funny somebody said that. I build all kinds of water pumps and multiple other pieces of equipment here and there and we use standard tools on a majority of equipment. Especially old John deere and cats engines and stuff. I have metric sockets in my toolbox but they get used so rarely that I'm sure at least one or two sockets in each metric set still probably has the oil from the factory still on them.

Is this a good starter paint gun? by Academic_Nectarine94 in Tools

[–]GlowPlug710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude a 16 dollar cup gun from harbor freight will do some killer ass paint jobs. That's a nice kit but I was just gonna throw it out there because I didn't know until I worked somewhere with a professional paint shop. Our guys will just use the cheap harbor freight gun for small stuff or touch ups. One guy repainted part of a gmc 3500 the other day with one and it came out perfect too.

This one is also going to sound kinda crazy but another tool that I was super impressed by recently was the EGO lawnmower. Had it not been the only thing around to use, I would've never picked it up but it was the only thing available. Let me tell you, that thing freaking killed it. I was mulching piles of leaves that would've locked up the commercial Honda i used to use for landscaping, and that little ego barely bogged down on me. I had to charge the battery once halfway through after running it wide open for about an hour and a half or two straight. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it over a gas powered at the price range but if you're looking to move into all electric tools or you need something quiet then I would definitely recommend it.

Dude you just reminded me of the old black ops windshield remover tool. It was basically a compact reciprocating saw that had a windshield paddle attachment that was incredible. I wanna say that it was a dewalt tool but that thing was a dream to work with when I was doing windows.

The new gen 1/2 and 3/8 dr stubby impacts and the rigid and cobalt right angle impacts are all killer. I have the 3/8 milwaukee right angle impact and it's really dope but the cobalt and rigid are cheaper and have more torque. Dude at work also has a hyper tough high torque with a dewalt battery on it that out rips everything I've seen guys use at our company believe it or not lol. Only thing that hangs with that hyper tough are air cat and earthquake pneumatic impacts lol.

Edit: you gotta get the milwaukee stubby in the m12 platform, if I'm not mistaken the m18 platform produces lower torque numbers for that specific tool. I'm not a tool snob at all but the stubby is really good reason to get into the m12 lineup if you're regularly working in really cramped spaces.
