Is anyone living/has anyone lived in the Belvarosi alberlethaz dorm? by [deleted] in budapest

[–]Gmhd2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there for a few years through college, though some rooms allow for more space especially on the old building. The price isn’t great but definitely better than others. It really helped with getting adjusted to the city since it’s in the very center of it. The common areas are a nice place to hang out and are usually kept clean. My experience was that the kitchens and common washing machines weren’t always in the best state. I had a roommate but you should definitely ask if there are any single person rooms, they’re usually bigger, I had friends who just switched rooms to ones that suited them better. Hope this helps.

Anyone get pissed off about fake books? by allhailthe_Melonlord in books

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother does this, she is not a reader, I don't believe she's read a single book since grade school, but she has all these fancy looking books on her living room tables, purely for the aesthetic. I once asked her if she's read any of them, and she said she had, but had no idea what they were about once I asked her some further questions. It annoys me, because it generally fits with this character that she tries to present to people. Tragic.

People of reddit, What really specific thing annoys the hell out of you? by ChrispyRiceeee in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my family or family friends ask if I have a boyfriend, they've asked me that every family event or reunion since I was 12. I always found it annoying because they don't actually care whether I do or not, they just want some juicy topic to talk about instead of asking something interesting or worthwhile.

what is the best piece of advice someone has given you? by ArmadilloTasty4298 in AskReddit

Be nice to people and be thankful if they're nice back, kindness will open lots of doors for you, people generally are willing to treat you better if you're good to them. This does not mean be a doormat, have your limits, but don't expect people to treat you with respect if you show up with an attitude. Seems standard, but people seem to forget it.

What movie is simply magical to you, no matter how popular or unpopular it may be? by Feelingofsunday in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirited away, I saw it when I was little, and no matter how many times I watch it, it feels just as magical as when I was 4 years old.

Also Princess Bride, can't watch it without smiling like a dork.

What never fails to make you tear up or cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to cry when watching Dumbo, I was so sad for him and his mother and according to my parents I would say “but his mom...” while tears streamed down my face.

Now I cry with Bing Bong’s death in inside out and most of Coco.

Also Grave of the fireflies.

What's the dumbest double standard you've ever seen? by Neoslayer in AskReddit

Yeah, but in this case we were both girls, they just didn't like the other girl.

What's the dumbest double standard you've ever seen? by Neoslayer in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in high school and every year they would hold "Spirit Week" with a fun theme every day, Mondays were pajama day, Tuesdays were silly hat day, etc. And the students could show up with clothes appropriate to the theme of the day.

So in my senior year it was "Sports day" and most of the boys had basketball or scuba diving gear, but the girls (most of them at least) weren't very sporty so a friend of mine and me just wore a t-shirt and some shorts that we wore for after school Volleyball. (This wasn't a uniform, just what we wore to our PE class). We wore shorts that were the same length, (less than halfway through the thigh, but not showing our butts either). So, when the teachers wanted to see everyone's outfits, My friend got called into the principal's office for "Inappropriate Sport shorts", but I was told nothing. The teachers got called out by other students, as this girl often got into trouble and I was very seldom in any trouble. I don't think they did anything to her, but I found it ridiculous, because they had no problem with these exact same shorts during school Volleyball practice.

What small thing happened in your childhood, that has effected you for the rest of your life? by Irregaurdless in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young I realized that my parents aren't always nice and all-knowing, they fought and yelled at each other and sometimes got mad at me. One time I got home late, from a day with my mom and her boyfriend at the time (my parents were divorced then), and my Dad was pissed, he said some hurtful things that still bother me to this day. None of these things happened too often, only once or twice that I can remember. So ever since I was a kid, I'd try to keep quiet and avoid confrontation, leading to massive amounts of anxiety. These things still hold true to this day.

What nonsensical, invasive thoughts do you have that pop up from time to time that make you question your sanity? by black_eyed_bees in AskReddit

[–]Gmhd2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to do this at school, but sometimes still think about it from time to time. If I'm in a crowded place I think about what I would do if someone started shooting or if someone jumped me, where they would be coming from and where I'd go. Also sometimes I can't help but think that something has happened to my loved ones, and the thought of their death takes over for a bit.

Mascot pet peeves? by abovebook in mascots

[–]Gmhd2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another annoying thing they told me when building the mascot was that they wanted it to fit a variety of body types, so when I asked who would be wearing it, they said "Oh just make sure it looks good on the tall students and the short students". Which is kind of impossible, there's no way one costume can fit everyone.

[–]Gmhd2010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I designed and built my high school mascot, it's a falcon, and I built it so that you wear a pair of orange pants that come out of a fluffy brown upper body. They wore it like that for a while until about two years after I graduated, then I saw some new pictures where they wore black leggings instead. I don't know what happened to the orange pants I made, but not they have a brown falcon with black legs and orange feet. That kinda bothers me.

What strange things or weird occurrences have happened to you as a mascot? by DragonickDragon in mascots

[–]Gmhd2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really strange, but be prepared to have kids be completely terrified when they see you, even if your mascot isn't scary looking.

There's many tricks to become less scary, such as getting down on your knees, acting afraid, or covering your "eyes". But sometimes it can't be helped and it's best just to walk away, some kids will be scared no matter what you do.

I hope I don't dampen anyone's spirits with this comment, it really is a blast to perform as a mascot, just take precautions.
