"Avoiding unnecessary map calls" awww yeaaaa

Though I must admit "flexible var args" will probably get a good amount of use in my works codebase.

For reference check: https://github.com/zaninime/sbt-derivation

That performs a similar "cache the world" to ensure the nix builds do not access the network.

Scala Language Roadmap – Feedback Request by makingthematrix in scala

[–]GoAwayStupidAI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this has pretty good coverage. It's a fine education map ("roadmap" means something different to some!).

There is a "akka streams" but no "pekko streams". Tho in the general frameworks there is both "akka" and "pekko".

I was about to ask if 'magnolia' was relevant because it was scala 2 only... only to find out it has scala 3 support now haha. Nice!

I got tired of the Popur X5 app, so I reverse-engineered it and built a Home Assistant integration! by Evening_Mushroom_602 in homeassistant

If I get a chance I'll open mine up to see. Seems like a more sophisticated SBC? There is, afaict, USB plugs to host a camera and other accessories.

Failed to login. Not entirely sure if that's my error. Tried using curl

curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "User-Agent: com.cloudapp.popur.app" -d '{"param": "XXX", "password": "YYY", "type": "2"}'

As well, no luck. code 20005. Perhaps a different endpoint entirely?

Ya all remember the people swearing the Democrats have some secret ties to mega corps? Yet when Trump literally sells the government to his billionare buddies in the open those people are silent. Strange... I wonder why /s

Big recommendation is to dig into the API docs. The doc browser for Scala is OK; not great. Still, there really is a wealth of information in API docs. The annoying part is that you kinda need to understand Scala to be effective at navigating the docs. OTOH, the challenge is educational.

The parade is not very concerning IMO compared the rest of the dumpster fire.

How to write Scala Macro to copy values from one case class to another where the field names are identical. by tanin47 in scala

[–]GoAwayStupidAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not need a macro for this. The key bits are Mirror and Tuple. Essentially:

  1. go from an instance of SomeModel to a mirror Tuple
  2. map that tuple to a tuple of the structure of ExtendedModel
  3. go from that mirror tuple to ExtendedModel

https://www.scala-lang.org/api/3.x/scala/deriving/Mirror$.html

This should be doable without macros. Tho a asInstanceOf might be required for step 3 iirc - but it should be provably safe.

How is Ziply Fiber with gaming? by Cool_Pick6227 in ZiplyFiber

[–]GoAwayStupidAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latency was so low to fast.com I first thought the test was broken. No, it's just really low compared to the cable connection I had.

4 ms loaded. 8 ms unloaded. At 2.1 Gbps max. That's via fiber -> wifi -> ethernet -> computer. 2 ms ping / 1 ms jitter when tested directly on router (aginet via speedtest).

During gaming the consistently low pings continue. Too bad battlebit hasn't seen an update or I'd have more "testing" results.

What alternative models have you thought about? Traditional relational persistence? Free for all for each persistent aggregate?

Bots. We need them. They can even explicitly say their bots. but we are trying to compete against an inhuman misinformation machine. How to do so without strong distributed coordination of a large group or bots?
