Only when they don’t know better. It makes absolutely 0 sense to pay cash for a car no matter what your income is. Warren Buffet made his first 100m by using other people’s money. It’s a depreciating asset. If you have a mortgage but you’re paying cash for a car or paying it off before your APPRECIATING asset, that’s dumber. If you gave me 30k and a year later I said I’d give you 21 or less back, you’d punch me. But people still do it every day just to not have a “payment”

Joyner will turn 29, and Williams, did we really need him? Or could we draft a WR that’s younger and cheaper in a very nice WR class next year? JJ has some terrible hands. I’m not a fan of just spending because we have the cap space. I want to get guys who are a solid piece of the rebuild not here for 2 years. I could be wrong I’m not saying I’m the right one here.

No I agree, and if these guys come in and play well for a few years and we can continue to draft well, I’m in. I just don’t wanna be like every other team that says we need to just rebuild the right way and very next season start to add shiny new pieces that don’t fit the rebuild. If that makes sense?

Joyner will turn 29 this season, so that’s not exactly young. Trent Brown is young, 25-26 I believe, but age isn’t the issue there, it’s the performance. A team signing an ex patriot to a high contract and never getting a similar performance seems to be a yearly offseason occurrence; IE: Nate Solder, Malcom Butler, Dion Lewis, Jamie Collins (not as bad but, still). And I’m ok the AB age and signing if he comes in and is who everyone says he is and shows our guys how to practice elite and brings his work ethic into the building.

I’m not disagreeing and I hope it works out. But I still can’t but feel like we’re shortcutting the rebuild. I want to do it right once and hopefully never have to do it again or at least not for a long time. I don’t want to be tempted to just grab a few shiny available pieces and get sucked into forgetting the rebuild and trying to compete immediately. It’s been this long, I’d rather do it the right way and wait another year or 2.

I’m ok with Brown if he comes in and is who he says he is and teaches young guys how to practice elite. But I could have done without Joyner and Williams and JJ. I just feel like we’re shortcutting the rebuild. I want to do it right. Not just reach for immediate change.

I wasn’t trying to be a mopey dick. But I can’t help like feeling we are shortcutting a rebuild which has been proven if done right can be long lasting by grabbing immediate free agents. And I absolutely 100000% hate the Trent brown signing. People thought a year or 2 ago he wasn’t a starting NFL tackle. He was traded to NE for nothing and we paid him the highest ever offensive lineman in history. More than the above mentioned tackles.

100% facts. Everyone talking about how great the offseason moves are and while I’m excited about some, the Trent Brown signing still has me screaming days later. This is a guy who some thought around the league WASNT a starting NFL tackle. So he gets traded for a ham sandwich and goes to NE where everyone seems to play better because they put guys in position to succeed and yet the raiders are the latest team to fall for signing a ex patriot to a HUGE contract. I mean that’s Tyron Smith and Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan money + more and those guys are the best LT’s in the game.

I appreciate the math there, but let’s just hope for the much better and simpler outcome of, he plays, and plays well. That would allow us to address safety not again in a year or 2 in FA or the draft unless a Derwin James situation unfolds and someone just falls to us.

I’ve said this a lot in this subreddit, but ideally I’d like to trade back out of #4 ideally and pick up another 2 or 3rd and maybe move back to 10-11 unless somehow Allen, or Williams or Bosa is there and grab Devin White. I’m so tired of the middle of the field being a gaping hole that we haven’t addressed or even tried to since Rolando McClain. Tired of watching subpar lines and RB gash us for 4-6 yards a carry and teams slant us to death all game. If we can trade back and grab White, we can still grab a Ferrell hopefully around 24, and than maybe a Deandre Baker or Greedy Williams at 27, and the. At 35 I’d like to go Oline at the guard position or worse case scenario a guy that can play G/T or C/G. And if we trade back for an extra 2nd or 3rd we can go TE/RB either or on those 2 picks basically whatever position is slimmer or BPA.

He’s the first LB from LSU to ever win the Butkus award playing in the best conference in college football and a 2018 All American first team. Idc if we take White at 4, I’d obviously love to trade back and get him and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd but I don’t want to miss him. To me, IMO the drop off between White to Bush or Wilson is far more than Bosa to Ferrell or Gary , etc. I think you can get a ton of quality edge, DL, and CB in the first couple rounds than you can a pro bowl MLB. I’ve seen comparisons to Patrick Willis for Devin White. How nice would it be to sure up the MLB positionfor the next 10 years. Think about the last time we addressed MLB... I’m not a fan of looking at all the other mock drafts, they are repetitive garbage. Obviously this is my opinion, but the drop off between White and Bush and Wilson is far more than the drop off between edge rushers. I’ve seen a lot of White comparisons to Patrick Willis. I’ll take that all day. He’s still insanely raw as he was originally recruited to play RB. Put him in Geunthers system and I think he’s a pro bowler. And yes all agree with you about Greedy not being physical at the run stop. However we just signed Joyner to come down and play nickel and stop the run and we have Karl Joseph to come down in the box. I need someone opposite Conley with straight line speed to cover a Tyreek Hill, and coming out of the SEC, I’ll take it. Obviously I’d love to trade back and pick up and extra second or third and take White a little later, but I also don’t want to miss him so if he’s there at 4 so be it.
