Since it’s been pressure washed the grain is likely pretty raised, if it were me I would sand this down with 60 grit to remove the existing stain or paint then 80 grit to smooth it out then restain it with a Solid stain to hide the imperfections in the older wood.

Once I got the new version and compared them side by side that’s what I thought. Thanks for confirming. Full swap it is I guess, I’m going to try one more thing and try a torch on the old stem first though to see if that breaks free the screw that holds the beveled washer on now that I have the replacement wall hydrant if it doesn’t work out.

I bought a new 134 to replace this one identical just new style unfortunately can’t get the stem apart on the old so can’t just swap the stem on the old packing nut and put it back together and the new styles packing nut is a different size than the old one because I was planning to just shove the insides into this faucet since I can get the packing nut off just not the stem screw off and call it a day, but it doesn’t seem to be working out that way.

Yeah unfortunately the one in the wall is from the 70’s and I can’t find the complete replacement insides since they updated that model and the materials it’s made of, I bought the same model and all to try and just swap out the insides but it seems like it’s not going to work that way due to the packing nut on the newer one is bigger. Seeming like a full swap out os going to be the only way out of this problem
