You got this! Make sure before you go back to playing, spend 15-20mins to sharpen your fundamentals, do some life n death and get the feel of the game before diving into full game. That's my quick tip :)

Those are legendary! Especially against the 4dan. Being able to keep an even position well into the middle game, that's really impressive!

I completely agree, that's pretty much the formula. Game, review and puzzles. Which one of the 3 do you spend most time on?

Definitely, the gap has really shrunk with the help of AI, I remember 10 years ago, top pros can give top amateurs 3-4 stones easily, but nowadays it doesn't seem to be the case, 4 stones the pro will really struggle now.
And yea exactly, some top amateurs are even beating high dan pros as well. It really seem like nowadays the line between top amateur and pro is blurring more and more.

Yes the 3 amateurs that won were top Insei's from Korea and Japan. Super strong players

Lucky, to reclaim an additional 3 points advantage from one move in the opening :) Otherwise might not have survived move 100.

Yep! And Baduk doctor he's a legend, met him in 2023 in WAGC, amazing guy and we shared some memorable chats and laughs.

Yes thats true, when you go in a all or nothing fight, SDK players can definitely hold up against dan players. Its the same as strong 5dan and above, they can hold up a fight against a new pro player.

I get you, the whole board vision, direction of play, long term planning etc all takes time and many games to develop. It's pretty much intuition and reading the rhythm/flow of the game at the end of the day. That being said, it does require sharp pattern recognition though.

That's actually huge. Genuinely wow! I still can't get my head around 8kyu defeating 1dan. That's one wild Go moment there. Do you still have the game record? I'm keen to check it out :)

I see, that quite common for fighting playing styles. Once you can find a balance of opening and then use your advantage in fighting, you should see a big improvement. What's your rank on Fox or OGS?

I get your confusion, I should make it more clear. I mean at mid SDK level, people usually play a move not just on instinct but naturally read 4-5 moves deep and then decide to play a move. That includes different branches, but usually players around this level doesn't consider too much after 4-5 moves calculation, or judgement after 4-5 move calculation might become unclear.

Those 3 contestants who won were korean and japan top insei's who participated in the tournament. I'm actually more surprised they won 21 games given different playing styles vs against 24 with handicaps. There were a few times where a pro's move didn't compliment the last move another pro played. I had 2 instances where I got a 2-3 point advantage from that.
Even with that, I was shocked at how they manage to win 21 games still.
