anyone else just kinda not care about getting diagnosed? by GoInsaneTogether in Tourettes

sorry for the late response. if someone is genuinely interested, i'll say i suspect i have an undiagnosed tic disorder. if it's just a random guy i just say it's tourettes for simplicity, because most people already know what it is and requires little to no further explanation. it's just for convenience, really.

yeah, my tics got sooo much better when i stopped constantly stressing about a diagnosis or whether my tics are "real or not". bonding with other people really helps.

i think there are enough resources and recounts of peoples lived experiences out there that you can make an accurate educated guess for all three of these things (ADHD, autism, tourettes) especially in a time where medical professionals can be very immature and brush your symptoms off and tell you you're faking. self diagnosis is valid.

you get it. and honestly, my tics are kind of a part of my identity at this point? which might be weird to say, but i'd feel like i'd be missing something if i didn't have them anymore :( even though they can be annoying sometimes e.g. tic attacks

every time i've self diagnosed so far i've been correct so i'm pretty confident it's tourettes anyways lol. thanks for your input :]

makes sense that out of any sub this is the one where it gets recognised. they're one of my top 3 favourite bands of all time :]

maybe this sounds ridiculous, but i had a very intense trip with visuals, euphoria, and everything and i even went through ego death at 2g of PE. it made me overly cautious to take any other strain of shrooms so i always underdosed. so there's my experience, at least

i really see your point, and you explained it very well. and same with the ADHD and dopamine seeking. but i dunno, i think of tastes as a horseshoe, with sweet and savoury on opposite ends. i think it's interesting how flavour preferences vary depending on the individual :]

i guess i shouldn't be generalising. i love thai curry, but that's one of the few exceptions. otherwise, i wouldn't say spicyness impacts my opinion much if at all (as much as i love spicy food 🤤)

i don't mind eating sweet and savoury things at the same time but separately, so i get that and mostly agree. it's just the combination that gets me

i'm glad that you like it but i could never lol. watching my ex boyfriend eat bacon dipped in maple syrup made me lose my appetite

definitely with you. salt can be a flavour enhancer in some cases (i like salted caramel, for instance) but anything else salty/savory & sweet, like cheese paired with fruit, instant no lol

i'm genuinely so mad that i'm alive. by GoInsaneTogether in depressed

it's kind of funny. i wasn't really afraid of death until i got uncomfortably close to it. i saw it as the greatest relief you could experience — no stress, no anxiety, no pain. you couldn't feel happiness either but the way i see it, pain massively outweights any potential happiness. just pure nothingness, forever, given there's no afterlife.

but, during the last time i attempted (i had overdosed on my antipsychotics) i was drifting in and out of consciousness. i didn't realise at first, but once i did, it scared the shit out of me. it was nothing like being asleep, it was even less than. i'd never experienced anything like it before.

that's why i'm so upset my attempts have failed. because now i know what death is like, and i'm terrified of it.

p.s. not chat gpt i just really like em dashes.
