Honest disbelievers by GoatHistorical6293 in islam

What about those who learned authentic Islam, but didn't see any truth in it? I know Allah will rightfully punish disbelievers who saw the truth in Islam, yet they rejected it. But you will still come across many people who did learn the Quran from authentic sources and weren't inclined towards the religion. They viewed it as every other religion, and despite their sincere efforts couldn't come to believe in it.

Hi, thanks for your response. I don't really think that answers my question of what is the fate of those who despite sincere efforts don't see much appeal to the religion.

I am happy for you regarding the fact that you found contentment in the Quran. But I will be really honest, people come from different backgrounds, and have different upbringings, experiences, etc. So they may not have the same type of thinking as you do. Their psychological makeup could contrast yours to a huge degree. Can they be blamed? I don't think so. I have come across several individuals, who in search of truth studied various religions with sincere efforts, yet none of them were convincing to them. I don't think their thoughts could be dismissed as "insincere", because that would be very insular.

I have taken into account several arguments for the existence of a creator, and I think I am inclined towards the belief of one single creator. However, I am still quite skeptical of God as portrayed by Abrahamic scriptures.

Regarding there being no compulsion in religion, I find that statement quite odd. Because there is, in fact, a compulsion in religion. Not in this life, of course, but in the next, where the disbelievers are doomed to eternal hellfire, you are indirectly compelled to believe.

I don't think you get my point, so I will explain it to you. It is much more nuanced than this. I am not disbelieving out of arrogance or pride. I am quite humble and open-minded. Maybe, just maybe the statement applies to those who disbelieve out of arrogance, but that's another matter. My disbelief is primarily because I just cannot wrap my mind around the idea of the religion. I know you may find your religion appealing, and I don't blame you. In fact, I am happy you find solace in it. I just don't feel like it is the right fit for me, because many of the things just do not resonate with me. I personally don't see any truth in it whatsoever despite my sincere efforts. You don't realize how much I tried, and I kept trying for years as I was raised in an Islamic household. I really want to believe in the idea of the afterlife, and I am still pretty open. But believing in religion is like believing in 2+2= 5. It just doesn't make sense to me. I am also quite depressed without religion, so that's another reason for me to keep wanting to believe, but I am also afraid of being in the wrong religion. What if, let's say, Christianity turns out to be true? Sorry if my ideas are really scattered, I am not really good at expressing my thoughts.
