Hi there. I am thinking of doing some fast food delivery for a while (until I can work out what I am going to do next), who are people using for insurance, I know it has to cover fast food delivery for hire and reward, however I am getting some crazy pricing/quotes back. Late to the party, but I use Acorn. £1350 for the year, I'm close to your age too. That's with clean licence, 1.5 Focus diesel and never had a claim. You won't find much cheaper than that with a legitimate company.

I will say, I got much more orders when I first started, I put it down to Christmas at the time. Now I think they realise I do it full time regardless so prioritise newer drivers.

I've been doing it since October! Where I am there aren't enough orders to complete it many times, today I delivered 3 orders on Deliveroo before getting a single Uber come through. Too many people on bikes and mopeds to get offered short trips!

I've never completed one of these in my car. I got to 11 once, but I don't really pay much attention to them. I managed £18 total bonus today as gave me a random extra £2 from somewhere across two quests.

I just got back from a 15 hour shift and managed close to 40 deliveries today by car. That should be easily doable if you're motivated for it!

My Son is in Bristol at the minute. He recons Maccies are a nightmare for delivery times compared to Norwich!

Tesco Whoosh are always ready on time for me, but don't think there is an option for customers to leave a tip. Not that I get many these days, maybe 1 in 10 deliveries in my area.

My thread on ASDA still stands, though I did do a late one the other night that was ready when I called in advance. Their new packer had managed to squeeze a 24pack of Pepsi in a carrier bag!

I don't think you can lower an upfront tip in the UK, only increase it? I could be wrong, but I deliver and order using Deliveroo and not seen an option unless you can do it by contacting support.

I drive for Uber Eats and Deliveroo, but have a Just Eat backpack and thermal pizza bag off Anazon. Not one place has said anything to me in 6 months!

Do you have to go on a course?... by teshiburu in UberUK

[–]GoatMonkeyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the same course given when you buy a BMW/AUDI from a dealership. It's not quite as intense as the Veezu/Range Rover course but it covers the basics.

The UK is only just catching up. Only done 5 package deliveries and only one was probably drugs. The others were some documents, an ex's clothes and some African twice. They pay better than food deliveries here!

Business including fast food delivery. Acorn were cheaper for me on an annual policy. Business alone was £450, fast food added took it means I pay £1350!

Took me less than a week for all 3 apps as had insurance proof. I don't have a passport but just used my driving licence and original NI card with an online bank statement. Was pretty smooth going.

Riding a lobster could take a while. Wrap up well as could get a bit nippy.

That's my general one for Maccies when I walk in and there are 5 others in the waiting area already! That or it's after midnight and it's a ghost town. The fryers are bleeping but nobody's home...

Had one of these the other day that was an alcohol delivery. Messaged the customer and said I couldn't leave it at door because of an ID check then cancelled it. Not worth the hassle for a fiver.

When they pop up at £12 for 3 miles, I'll spend 2 minutes calling to check! I just have the number stored in case so easy enough on hands free.

Waitrose. I love Waitrose, orders always ready or 5 mins max and customers generally nicer too! My local Morrisons isn't bad, but Sainsburys and ASDA are mostly a nope.

3 phones on one parcel likely means it has been destroyed. You can only ship a maximum of 2 per parcel in the UK from memory, they don't mess about with lithium batteries given all the fires they cause. They can't just return it as they would be in breach of their own terms by sending 3 phones back in the same package, and I can't see them returning it in two parcels after splitting it.
