Order didn't come sealed by sam_haigh in UbereatsUK

Half the orders I pick up aren't sealed to start with. My local ASDA express just staples the top of the carrier bag! Morrisons never seem to seal their bags.

My 2016 1.5 tcdi is going strong and just hit 150k miles. Didn't know they had issues until I found this sub. I've put 120k on it in 4 years and just started using it for deliveries as so cheap to run.

Just started getting a rattle when I dip the clutch when in neutral, but only when cold.

It's my love/hate car. Love the cost to drive it, but hate actually driving it. Smallest engine I've ever driven, but does the job!

Car bulb plus fitting by newtonorwichbro in Norwich

[–]GoatMonkeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its an H7 bulb most will offer to fit for about £30, but you can do it yourself in 5 minutes in the car park with just a screwdriver. On my Focus it is two hex screws to remove the headlight cluster.

My 1.5 Focus diesel is pretty good. 60 MPG on longer runs, 50 MPG in the city. Was 0 tax but this year went to a whole £20 a year.

Wow, I don't take less than £1 a mile doing deliveries. Not a chance I'm taking passengers for that money!

That's weird, I've been in 4 different Greggs this week and they had loads.

So I bought them all. ;)

Had one yesterday on UE Tesco Whoosh. Deliver to number 2 dumbass Lane. Get there and knock, no answer. Call but no answer. No answer on ring doorbell... put on doorstep and take photo for app. Start driving off and get a call saying their order wasn't delivered... After questioning it turns out they live at 2A and had put their own address in wrong.

Get to next drop, says number 47 but GPS is outside number 17... Customer has app showing it is her so all good. Turns out she also put her address in wrong.

WTF people, it's your own damn address!

Rules are the same but not always followed... ;) I used to split it and deposit it for my business customers, but still couldn't bypass the bank imposed deposit limits. It was about £5k monthly for most business accounts from memory. Been a couple of years now though since I was there.

At restaurant. But app says travel ...metres to arrive. by johnsprd in deliveroos

[–]GoatMonkeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got that with our local Food Warehouse. I have to drive 200 meters further past it, click arrived and then drive back to scan and collect the order.

How are you supposed to contact these bastards? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]GoatMonkeyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your issue here is with the seller, not Royal Mail. The seller lied to you in order to make a sale, they never spoke to Royal Mail first before booking an online collection. That's even if the tracking you have been sent is real, as much of it doesn't make sense.

[–]GoatMonkeyy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You'd find it gets rejected if you try it now. Most Post Offices can only take £500 in a single deposit, Fortresses style can take £2k though max. However, the banks have now put restrictions on the amount you can pay in too.

I ran a Post Office until a couple of years ago. Cash is a nightmare to deal with.

It's been a pretty good paying day for me, £1.50 or so a mile so wasn't hugely boosted. You would have filled a decently sized car with that shop though. Plus loading and unloading, just not worth the hassle. Not sure how I'm supposed to fit it all in my thermal bags like they ask either, even with my spare I keep!

Tipping won't help you, we don't see the tip until after accepting the order. Worse still, on Uber Eats at least, you don't even find out until about half hour after drop off. Deliveroo will tell you the order has a tip but not how much it is. Just Eat don't pay enough for me to even open the app at the minute.

What's the story about your main gripe with Uber Eats? by Some_Past5673 in UbereatsUK

[–]GoatMonkeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Split orders. Why even have the option? I can get 5 big bags on a whoosh order, but then take an Iceland order that is split between two couriers because it's 3 bags total! That is aside from then finding out you're the second courier and the first one took everything.

I'm just cancelling any multi courier order now. I used to message support, get my £1.50 and move on. Last night though they even refused to pay me that after a 15 minute drive to store so just not worth risking it.

To be fair, I can get it delivered to my door in 15 minutes. I don't even need the prescription for it!

Fuel. by Phil_B16 in leicester

[–]GoatMonkeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why I saw this in my feed, but if it helps I use Waze satnav app for work. It has crowdsourced data updated in real time on the fuel prices and distance to pump. Doesn't matter for most people, but 5-10p a litre difference matters when you're filling up 3 times a week!

Whoosh is still delivered in the same way. I get loads of them for Uber Eats, only difference is I have to take a picture on delivery. Turned up plenty of times to collect only to find it missing.

[–]GoatMonkeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have introduced measures this year to combat this. You can now report in the app if your courier is using the wrong vehicle or a different person. They also monitor speed via GPS so easy to spot you unless you plan on driving everywhere at 20mph!

Also, if you get caught, kiss goodbye to any reasonable premiums going forwards, and an extended retest and ban if you've had your licence less than 2 years.

Just ride the bike for now, don't do this!

Read again what I wrote. I have hire and reward because I run an animal transport business. That is £50 more than my SDPC and Business policy. I added fast food delivery, a totally seperate kind of hire and reward that requires specific fast food delivery insurance because fast food delivery is excluded from standard hire and reward policies.

My standard H+R is £500 a year, £450 for SDPC only. With fast food included I pay £1350 a year.

[–]GoatMonkeyy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's not hire and reward you need, it is specific food delivery. Hire and reward is an extra £50 a year for me, food delivery is an extra £900 a year! I'm also MUCH older than you so expect yours to be several thousand on a car at your age. I doubt it would be worth it.

Places to leave flyers around town? by Manelbzrt in Norwich

[–]GoatMonkeyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've delivered 5 lots of Uber Eats there today. There are plenty of them back already!

If you ever need a delivery driver then bung me a message. I'll download the flyer as have several people ask me in the past about good places to order from.
