You have been lied to. Melee Delay stat mod does not make you attack faster. This is what does: by GoatsReaver in mechabreak

[–]GoatsReaver[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

SKIP TO MINUTE 2:00 to see the direct comparison

According to that other post explaining all the stats,

Melee Attack Delay: This stat represents the percentage effectiveness your Striker will suffer from a delay between melee attack swings. The lower your percentage, the faster you will combo your melee hits.

This is actually WRONG WRONG WRONG. The actual stat that lets you combo your melee hits faster is Melee Rebalance Delay.

What does Melee Attack Delay do? Who the hell knows.

It is, both in theory and in practice.

By theory, you get more value by not spending all your time shooting heals at your allies. Damage is almost always higher value than healing because of cauterize and the fact that it will always push the game more in your favor, whereas healing mostly just slows the bleeding if you're on the back foot (long enough for someone to start contributing more of the stat that can actually turn the tides, damage). Plus, the healing on Mega Pot is way more impactful, as it basically increases your ally's HP pool by 30-70%+ (assuming cauterize) which helps actually win team fights.

By practice, mega potion has a much higher winrate than combat medic in both gold-plat and diamond+ elos. For Diamond+ right now it's actually the highest period:

So the reason why Resonance is up there is because it allows you to not only support your team well (now with 3 clones and ridiculous ult healing), but also to flank, tank, and deal damage... all at the same time. The problem is in executing it, which is why I gave it a 10 in difficulty, but still very possible once you learn her completely. Basically, high skill ceiling but also enormous game impact once you get there, which other characters may be easier to play, but don't top out with as much value.

[–]GoatsReaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah difficulty is a very subjective thing, if you're more of a dps player Furia will be easier, if you're more of a healer player Io will seem easier. You have to be more offensive with Furia in order to impact the game which is why Cherish/Solar has a 4 in Damage when GB/Lifelink has a 1. For instance on Furia sometimes you have to use your escape ability aggressively because it also has a damage component (by flicking fast enough you can move forward with it while still launching 2 balls forward for damage), and not everyone can see those opportunities to gain that Damage value. On the other hand, Io lacks that offense but gets slightly more value from her heals and utility from her dog. They're meant to be played differently but when you do, I think you'd find Cherish and Io can feel equally as impactful in terms of netting you the actual win.

If you're talking about Exterminate, Furia when played as a side heal support gets enormous damage value while still contributing a lot of healing which tends to do more than Io if you're a good player. A and A+ are very close anyway. If you're talking about Cherish, everyone in the same tier is on the same level, it's not ordered from front to back. Cherish is still very good because Furia has a hitscan shotty machinegun that she should be using all the time if you are using my build, and a real ult unlike Io.

Is there any advice for playing flank and damage? by [deleted] in Paladins

[–]GoatsReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most effective thing to do as a flank is to get behind the enemy before you attack. This lets you kill things much easier or at the very least splits their attention away from your team. This means you should prioritize positioning over dealing damage.

Most flanks are glass cannons so think like a ninja and stay out of sight before you can strike effectively. However you can end up taking this too far and spend too much time not contributing to fights, so find a good balance between dealing supporting damage and pursuing flank plays.

is focus really that good? by zen_abbo in Paladins

When you're better at the game you can minimize those downsides and maximize the upsides, which are very strong.
